Chapter 10: Chapter 10: The Real Cause of Death!

As Zhang Yean said, livor mortis could very likely appear on the back of the deceased.

This is because after human death, we typically lie face up.

However, according to the principle of livor mortis formation, it mainly forms due to the pooling of blood in the blood vessels from gravity.

Thus, when we die lying face down, the livor mortis would be located on the front side of the body.

When we die standing, the livor mortis would appear on the lower limbs and feet.

Of course, the distribution of livor mortis on the head and upper body of this female student is abnormal.

Wu You said, ”This is strange, the deceased was clearly hanged. How could there be livor mortis on her head and face?”

”This seriously contradicts the principle of livor mortis!”

The first forensic examination was conducted by Wu You himself.

He is very familiar with the original livor mortis of this body, he just didn’t notice additional marks on the head and face.

”During the first autopsy exam, I observed livor mortis formation on the deceased’s lower limbs.”

Wu You said, ”Moreover, the livor mortis was quite evident. I believe I couldn’t have mistaken it.”

”Maybe after the last forensic autopsy, the deceased’s blood ran out, making it less visible now.”

As he spoke, Wu You regretted a bit.

Indeed, he hadn’t noticed those subtle livor mortis marks on the head and neck.

Jiang An’s eyes scanned the smooth skin of the deceased, and he said, ”This livor mortis is quite special.”

At this moment, next to them, Zhang Yean’s curiosity was piqued, and she hurriedly asked, ”Could you two stop being mysterious?”

”I’m really anxious too!”

Perhaps the pursuit of truth inherent in police work made Zhang Yean particularly excited at this time.

She had completely forgotten the fear she felt earlier.

Suddenly, she found the search for truth quite interesting.

Seeing Zhang Yean’s anxious expression, Jiang An said, ”Livor mortis is distributed on the lower, uncompressed parts of the body.”

”This livor mortis suddenly appearing on the face and head implies the deceased was in an inverted position post-mortem.”

”Inverted?”

Zhang Yean’s eyes widened in disbelief.

”Boss, wasn’t the deceased in a hanging position?”

”How does your analysis suddenly rotate her position 180 degrees?”

Zhang Yean spoke her mind straightforwardly.

Wu You nodded, saying, ”This livor mortis distribution shows this posture.”

Inverted?

A living person wouldn’t form livor mortis; Zhang Yean understood this basic principle.

But!

Could a body invert after death?

What kind of death process is this!

Eerie!

Too eerie!

For a moment, Zhang Yean felt a chill down her spine.

Meanwhile, in the reception room of the city bureau.

Mr. Ma and Li Jian were communicating with the deceased’s family.

Li Jian said, ”Our bureau attaches great importance to this case, organizing an elite team for investigation. Today, Mr. Ma also attended personally.”

”Initial findings show certain doubts in the case.”

As the words fell, a bespectacled, cultured middle-aged man asked, ”What doubts? Please tell us!”

Li Jian responded, ”The case is under investigation, so it’s inconvenient to reveal details.”

”Was it murder?”

The man pressed further.

After a slight pause, Li Jian replied, ”We cannot eliminate the possibility.”

”We understand your feelings deeply, and ask for your understanding of our investigative process.”

”We want a definitive answer.”

”Exactly! We want a transparent answer!”

...

Suddenly, the scene descended into chaos.

Mr. Ma pressed the microphone switch, said solemnly, ”Please, family members, quiet down for a moment. I’ll say a few words.”

”I’ve worked in public security for 35 years, starting on the front lines of criminal investigation, handling many major cases.”

”Regardless of time and place, our principle as detectives is to never wrongfully convict a good person, nor spare a bad one.”

”Earlier, Li Jian said clearly, we cannot rule out murder in this case, but this is our conclusion at this stage.”

”We have much work ahead.”

”Including revisiting the original scene, re-examining the deceased’s body, analyzing interpersonal relationships again.”

”Rest assured, we’ll do everything in our power to solve this case, offer the family the truth, and bring peace to the deceased’s soul.”

Suddenly, noise erupted in the room again.

”When is first?”

”We want an exact time frame?”

...

Ultimately, Mr. Ma, forced into a corner, said, ”Within three days, solve the case and apprehend the murderer!”

Upon this statement, the room fell silent.

This indeed was a potent remedy.

However, sitting beside, Li Jian’s face turned grim.

Three days?

Solve this case?

And capture the murderer?

Three mountains seemed to suddenly weigh on Li Jian’s shoulders.

If not for the conference, he might have said, ”Is this possible?”

At that moment!

In the principal’s office of the school where Li Rui studied, smoke swirled around.

Mr. Zhang sipped tea, saying, ”This matter will finally settle.”

”Just this morning, as soon as work started, I contacted Li Jian. Their conclusion is already confirmed as suicide.”

The head of academic affairs said, ”This conclusion is best for handling subsequent matters at our school.”

”Exactly, if the student were murdered, our school’s reputation would be ruined.”

”We must keep vigilant this time.”

”Enhance school monitoring, security patrols, and pay attention to students’ mental states to prevent similar occurrences.”

”Yes!”

Members of the school’s leadership nodded.

Finally, Mr. Zhang said, ”That willow seems ominous, arrange for a lumberjack to cut it down.”

The director of logistics replied, ”Mr. Zhang, understood. Arrangements will be made immediately!”

At this moment, in the forensic autopsy center, Jiang An held a Willow Leaf Blade in his right hand and a pair of hemostats in his left.

He raised the blade, slicing the skin on the deceased’s right calf vertically.

The blade’s tip cut across pale skin, splitting instantly.

As the heart stopped beating, the blood vessels lacked pressure.

There was no blood seeping from the vessels at the skin incision site.

Then, Jiang An took the hemostats, peeling back the skin on the deceased’s ankle.

Amidst pale yellow fat tissue, a shallow circle of red could be seen.

Suddenly, Jiang An’s expression darkened, eyes serious, asked, ”What clothes was the deceased wearing on the lower body when she died?”

Wu You replied, ”Black sports pants!”

Jiang An nodded, said solemnly, ”I think I know the real cause of her death.”
