The Forensic Doctor Better Than a Detective

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Defend the Rights of the Living, Speak for the Dead!

minutes later, a police car stopped under Building 6 of Jiangcheng’s Phase II affordable housing.

”Mr. Yang, you’re quite familiar with the habitual thief Liu Chuang, aren’t you?”

One of the officers asked while holding a shield and baton.

Yang Guang grinned slightly and replied, ”Ten years ago, when I came to Zizhu Road Police Station, Liu Chuang started stealing. Over the years, I’ve caught him several times.”

”I’m very familiar with him.”

”These people idle around, living by theft.”

Though looking for a ’familiar face,’ Yang Guang maintained high vigilance.

After all, you don’t know if there are other shady associates inside.

If you encounter a serious criminal, they might be desperate.

After working at the grassroots police station for many years, Yang Guang has a profound feeling.

A tall, burly, and fierce person isn’t actually scary.

It’s the people who are reckless that are truly terrifying.

Walking to the door of unit 1 on the 4th floor, Yang Guang signaled with a hand gesture.

The two officers immediately realized, raised their riot shields, and stood on either side of Yang Guang in a defensive state.

Yang Guang held a pistol, knocking heavily on the door.

The wooden door had no peephole.

After 2 minutes, a voice from inside said: ”Who is it? So early!”

Yang Guang didn’t speak, increased the force, and knocked again.

At this time, any reason was inappropriate.

Suddenly, an angry voice rang out: ”What’s going on? Are you looking for trouble?”

As the door opened with a ”whoosh,” Liu Chuang appeared holding a cleaver, wearing red triangle briefs, standing at the entrance.

However, when he saw Yang Guang, the hostility in his eyes completely vanished, like a deflated eggplant.

”Mr. Yang, sorry! I didn’t know you’d come over so early.”

Yang Guang waved him back.

Then, Mr. Yang led the two officers inside.

After a quick inspection of the room, he found only Liu Shuai there.

Yang Guang holstered his gun.

Suddenly, from the corner of his eye, he noticed the ground beside the sofa.

In his view, there were five women’s handbags.

Yang Guang said, ”Check those bags!”

The two officers glanced and said, ”These 4 handbags match the description given by 4 elderly ladies, they should be stolen goods.”

”What about the other shoulder bag?”

One officer opened the shoulder bag, glanced at it, and said, ”There’s a student ID inside, the photo resembles the victim from last night, and there’s also a bottle of anti-epileptic medication.”

Instantly, Yang Guang’s expression turned serious, and he asked, ”What’s the deal with this shoulder bag?”

Liu Chuang, still in his shorts, responded, ”Mr. Yang, I picked it up on the mountain!”

”Picked it up?”

”You better think it over! This isn’t just about theft.”

”Really, I picked it up on Zizhu Mountain.”

At this moment, inside Jiang City Forensic Autopsy Center.

Li Jian, Wu You, Jiang An, and Zhang Yean stood around the toxicology analysis instrument, staring at it.

All four awaited a result.

A very critical result.

With a ”tick,” the machine stopped operating.

The computer screen displayed five words: ”Experiment complete.”

Wu You hurriedly stepped forward, moved the mouse, and clicked to print the analysis chart.

Five seconds later, a chart resembling a stock K-Line appeared in front of the four individuals.

At the bottom of this chart, the experiment results were visible: No toxic components such as Brodifacoum, sleeping pills, or organophosphates were detected in this experiment.

Wu You lifted his head and shook it.

At once, the laboratory fell silent, with only the sound of the computer’s fan audible.

Suddenly, Captain Li Jian’s phone rang.

He picked it up, glanced at the screen; the caller was Yang Guang.

”Hello!”

”Mr. Li, I wanted to report that our police station found the victim’s shoulder bag.”

As he spoke, Yang Guang emphasized the word ”police station.”

”Where was it found?”

”It was on a habitual thief, and the bag contained the victim’s student ID, the photo matches perfectly.”

”The deceased is a sophomore from Jiangcheng Information Technology College, named Li Yan, 19 years old.”

Li Jian asked, ”How did he acquire this shoulder bag?”

Yang Guang replied, ”This thief was just released from prison last month, recently stole several handbags on Zizhu Mountain, and I suspect this bag is also stolen.”

”Has he confessed to stealing?”

Yang Guang said, ”He hasn’t confessed yet, but I might need to put some pressure on him.”

”Alright! Thank you for your hard work!”

Yang Guang added, ”Mr. Li, with the victim’s shoulder bag found, isn’t there less evidence for the murder case?”

”If the forensic autopsy shows no poison in the body, could it be treated as a sudden accidental death?”

Captain Li Jian glanced at the chemical analysis chart, hesitated for a moment, then said, ”I’ll send the criminal investigation team to investigate Jiangcheng Information Technology College before drawing a conclusion.”

”Mr. Li! I’m waiting for your final decision!”

After Yang Guang ended the call, he felt quite satisfied.

Regarding the determination of this woman’s death, he believed his judgment would be correct.

He then glanced at Liu Chuang, who was crouched on the ground, and said, ”Since discussing here isn’t convenient, go put some clothes on and we’ll talk back at the police station.”

Meanwhile.

Captain Li Jian hung up the phone, his brow furrowing even more.

After pondering for a while, he dialed Deputy Captain Chen He’s number.

”Mr. Chen, the victim’s identity has been confirmed; she’s Li Yan, a sophomore at Jiangcheng Information Technology College. Send a team to the school to investigate Li Yan’s personal condition, especially whether she had any serious medical issues.”

”Yes, Mr. Li!”

After ending the call, Li Jian said, ”You’ve all heard just now; the victim’s identity is clear, and the shoulder bag may have been stolen by a thief.”

Then the group left Jiang City Forensic Autopsy Center.

On the way back, the car was filled only with the engine’s roar, creating a very tense atmosphere.

Captain Li Jian was quite displeased; dealing with homicide cases was always the Criminal Investigation Team’s specialty.

He didn’t expect, this time, to be caught off guard by Yang Guang, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Wu You recalled examining poisoned bodies over the years; this corpse’s muscle condition was very similar to the Brodifacoum suicide case from 10 years ago.

But why didn’t the body contain this poison?

Even if the system occasionally malfunctioned, why were the repeated experiment results identical?

At this moment, Jiang An looked at the vehicles and trees swiftly passing by the window, recalling the scene and the corpse from the case.

From the scene location and arrangement of items, to the rigid limbs, and the bleeding muscles of the chest and both upper arms.

If using accidental sudden death to explain all these anomalies, isn’t it too far-fetched?

Suddenly, Jiang An remembered the wooden gift box containing a golden Willow Leaf Blade, presented at the graduation ceremony by the alma mater to the forensic graduates.

Engraved outside the box was the phrase ”To speak for the living, To speak for the dead!”
