Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2395: Chapter 2288: He Really Has Good Taste

Yan Huan was suddenly taken aback; she hadn’t expected to encounter Cheng Yue’s mother in her hospital room.

She had imagined meeting Cheng Yue’s parents countless times before, but she never expected it to be in such a setting.

”Hello, Auntie.” Despite her surprise, politeness was necessary, ”I’m Yan Huan! Since you’re here, Cheng Yue must have already mentioned me to you, right?”

Qi Siyuan nodded and sized up Yan Huan with a few glances, smiling, ”No wonder Yuyu likes you! You really are very beautiful! Truly living up to being a female soldier, so full of vigor!”

”Thank you for the compliment, Auntie!” Yan Huan smiled faintly. She was no longer a young girl; she had heard compliments countless times, but praise from Cheng Yue’s mother was not a good sign. She knew there would be more to come, ”Auntie, if you have something to say, just say it directly!”

”So clever!” Qi Siyuan laughed, ”Yuyu’s taste is indeed good!”

Yan Huan, after all, had some experience. If she couldn’t see through something so obvious, she would be no different from a fool.

”Here’s the thing. I know quite a bit about you and Cheng Yue. I’m very grateful to you; you are a smart and wise girl. Thank you for letting go four or five years ago and bringing Cheng Yue back to us! Similarly, I am asking you this time, please don’t continue with Cheng Yue.” Qi Siyuan said very seriously, looking into her eyes.

Even though Yan Huan was prepared, hearing these words explicitly from Qi Siyuan made her heart skip a beat, and an uncomfortable feeling started to rise from her heart, ”Auntie, Cheng Yue and I really have nothing to do with each other now.”

”Really?” Qi Siyuan smiled and placed the photos in front of Yan Huan, ”Look at this yourself. You two seem so close.”

Yan Huan was astonished to see the photos Ji Chuan had ended up in Qi Siyuan’s hands.

Without figuring out how this happened, she heard Qi Siyuan continue, ”Cheng Yue’s father and I aren’t the type to interfere with our son’s marriage choices! But, living life, one has to bow to reality. You know, I had another daughter before... Later, she was gone! I only have Cheng Yue as my son! Nancheng is a place of sorrow for his father and me; we can’t stay here even for a day! Besides...”

Even if Yan Huan closed her eyes, she could imagine the rest of the words.

It would be nothing more than saying that Cheng Yue couldn’t stay here and that they were unsuitable for one another.

”Auntie, you might have misunderstood! Cheng Yue and I are currently broken up; these photos don’t mean anything!” Yan Huan said as she tore her photos to shreds, ”You don’t have to say anything more. I understand! Even if I were willing, my mother would never allow it!”

”That’s for the best.” Qi Siyuan heard her say this, and it was like a weight was lifted from her heart, ”Your mother has been through it; we all understand, you two have your distances, it’s unsuitable! Age, worldview, and most importantly, the geographical distance between you two, even you can’t overcome it, right? Oh, I forgot to tell you, Cheng Yue has a childhood sweetheart—Shen Qiqi!”
