Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2390: Chapter 2283: This Is Fate

”I don’t want to argue with him either! I just want the right to love freely!” Cheng Yue finished speaking and pointed at Shen Qiqi, saying, ”Qiqi is a good girl! I’ve known this since I was little, but I’ve always just seen her as my sister! I can’t have those kinds of feelings for her...”

Shen Qiqi bit her lower lip tightly and whispered, ”You haven’t even tried, how do you know there’s no way for love to develop between us...”

”Exactly!” Qi Siyuan held Shen Qiqi’s hand, ”Everyone says Qiqi is a spoiled girl, but she is nothing but good to you! Your father and I aren’t blind; we can see it! We wouldn’t treat your marriage as a joke!”

”That’s right! Don’t be so stubborn, think about your sister, Cheng Yu...” Cheng Nanfang spoke, his eyes reddening, as if the passing of his daughter had cut a piece of his heart away, ”She could have had a better life, but she insisted on getting involved in Qin Jian’s life! Son, you and your sister both don’t understand, life isn’t always as you wish!

Some people, if you miss them, they’re truly missed! There’s never a second chance to try again.

It’s fate! When the bond is severed, nothing can come of it!”

Cheng Nanfang’s words struck Cheng Yue to the core, reminding him of the promises he’d made to Yan Huan, and suddenly, he lost his courage.

Yan Huan’s worries were not without reason; his parents wouldn’t easily let him go.

In that moment, the once confident Cheng Yue felt exhausted, too tired to say another word.

”Son, have you thought about it? Your sister left so much pain and scars in this city! Your dad and I felt so miserable on our way here!

If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t want to set foot here for even a single day!

Just thinking about this place makes your dad and I feel heartache! I can’t face this city!

Son, I’m begging you...

Qi Siyuan said and started to cry uncontrollably.

”Mom, please don’t say anymore!” Cheng Yue’s heart ached as if someone had stabbed him hard, ”I just want a love that belongs to me! I just want to live with the person I love, why is it so hard?”

Four or five years ago, he was entangled in these matters and was forced to give up Yan Huan!

Yan Huan was in so much pain that she wanted to die, and wasn’t he in pain too?

Returning to Jiangning, facing such a broken home, missing the person he loved in the distant land and secretly crying, though they both loved each other, they couldn’t be together.

How could his heart possibly feel any better?

In countless days and nights, he penned down his feelings, facing the night as he smoked one cigarette after another, yet the love etched deep in his bones wasn’t something that time could dissolve.

”Cheng Yue!” Shen Qiqi looked at the person she loved, seeing his pain, her heart was about to break. She walked up to Cheng Yue, crying as she said, ”I’m sorry, I know how much it hurts! I know this taste of pain too! I will not pressure you anymore in the future; I will just stay by your side. If one day you and Yan Huan can be together, I will bless you!”

”Don’t say anymore!” Cheng Yue took a deep breath and raised his hand to pat Qiqi’s shoulder, ”It’s me who let you down, I can’t respond to your feelings and have wasted your youth...”

”It’s my choice! I don’t blame you!” Shen Qiqi said with tears in her eyes.

Even if drinking this poison of love would lead to death, she would still savor it gladly!
