Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2394: Chapter 2287: A Life-Changing Matter

When Cheng Yue returned home, Shen Qiqi poked her head out from the kitchen and asked, ”I think I just heard Director Ji’s voice. Did he come by?”

”You heard wrong! Go back to your cooking!” Cheng Yue said and headed straight into his bedroom.

He looked at those photographs again and again, feeling quite pleased with himself, then placed the photos in the drawer.

He and Yan Huan had a romance, but never had any keepsakes.

These photos were their most beautiful memento.

Thinking back to the time in the countryside, it really was a wonderful period.

............

The next day, Cheng Yue went to work.

Cheng Nanfang was walking back and forth with his hands behind his back, inspecting the cleanliness of Cheng Yue’s home.

”Look at the dust here; it’s as thick as a foot! How can someone who’s been in the military not even keep their quarters in order? What kind of soldier is that?”

Qi Siyuan disliked Cheng Nanfang nitpicking at their son, so she defended Cheng Yue, ”A foot thick? Can you be more exaggerated? You don’t see how busy our son is daily! Here you are, still acting like a Commander in the military district over your son?”

”It’s all because of how you’ve pampered him!”

”So what? Why do you always find our son at fault?” Qi Siyuan huffed and tossed back a remark, then turned and went back inside.

She picked up a feather duster from the corner and walked up to Cheng Nanfang, shoving it into his hand, ”Since you’re idle anyway, why don’t you start by cleaning your son’s place today?”

”I refuse to do it!”

”You have to, whether you want to or not!” Qi Siyuan put her hands on her hips and said, ”If you insist on doing nothing, you might as well exhaust me to death! You know I can’t exert myself too much...”

”Alright, alright! I can never win against you in my life!” Cheng Nanfang said helplessly.

”You picked your own wife! If you chose her, good or bad, you have to live with it!”

”Isn’t that the truth!”

The couple divided the chores to start cleaning their son’s room. When Qi Siyuan was tidying up Cheng Yue’s room, she began to organize his disordered drawer.

Unexpectedly, upon opening the drawer, she discovered the photographs inside.

After seeing what was in the photos, Qi Siyuan couldn’t help but become deeply worried.

The woman in the photos was undoubtedly Yan Huan, and her son looked at Yan Huan with eyes full of love and infatuation.

No wonder he refuses to accept Shen Qiqi no matter what. It seems the major issue lies with Yan Huan.

It seems it’s time for her to have a talk with Yan Huan.

Qi Siyuan stepped out of the room and said to Cheng Nanfang, ”I have something to attend to, so I’m going out for a while. You stay and clean up at home!”

”You’re unfamiliar with this place, where are you going? What are you going out to do?” Cheng Nanfang asked.

”I’m going to do something that will change our son’s destiny!”

.........

Yan Huan had another dream.

But this time, the dream wasn’t very scary.

In the dream, there was a boy with beautiful eyes who gently held her hand and said softly, ”Sister, come home with me! I’ll protect you!”

”Okay!” she nodded.

So, in the dream, the two children ran hand in hand quickly.

Just as the small house was in sight, Yan Huan suddenly tripped and fell.

The fall jolted her awake from the dream, and she slowly opened her eyes.

She found herself not in the hospital room but sitting opposite an older woman, probably in her early fifties.

However, she was very well-maintained and still looked relatively young.

”And you are...?”

”I’m Cheng Yue’s mother, my name is Qi Siyuan!” she said, extending her hand to Yan Huan, ”Hello! I’d like to have a chat with you!”
