Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2353: Chapter 2346: The Unbridgeable Chasm

Yan Huan was slightly taken aback: ”You want to help me?”

”Yes.” Ji Chuan nodded, ”As long as there’s an illness, there should be a way to treat it, right? Even if it can’t be cured, at least it can be controlled or the cause can be found.”

”Thank you.” Yan Huan was slightly moved in her heart, ”This illness is untreatable. Over the years, we’ve visited countless doctors, but they were all helpless.”

From childhood to adulthood, her parents took her to seek medical treatment.

Seeing the worried faces of her parents, Yan Huan knew she must have an incurable disease.

”Medicine is advancing. Many diseases that couldn’t be treated before are possible now.” Ji Chuan was distressed to see Yan Huan’s attack earlier; he had only heard from Yan Ye that Yan Huan had asthma.

He knew it was a troublesome disease, but if she watched her lifestyle, her illness wouldn’t just attack like that.

However, seeing Yan Huan’s episode earlier, he felt something was different from asthma.

”Thank you, Ji Chuan.” Yan Huan smiled, her voice tinged with bitterness and helplessness, ”I know my condition. It’s really strange, I have no issues as long as I stay in Nancheng; the illness doesn’t attack at all! But as soon as I leave Nancheng, it keeps attacking from time to time! Since it’s like this, I’ll just stay in Nancheng!”

”A person can’t stay in the same place all their life.”

”Why not?” Yan Huan smiled, her gaze lingering into the distance, ”I just won’t get to see the beautiful sceneries in other places! At worst, I’ll just be a frog at the bottom of a well, never venturing out! Ji Chuan, I’ve gotten used to it...”

”Is this why you broke up with Cheng Yue?” Ji Chuan seemed to understand Yan Huan’s pain and helplessness.

He also realized why Yan Huan had developed her particular personality.

Her illness couldn’t be cured, so Commander Yan and Aunt Feng must have felt guilty towards her.

So, they spared no efforts in pampering Yan Huan, allowing her to speak frankly and be at ease with them.

It’s not a major issue!

As long as the Yan family doesn’t see it as a problem, it’s fine.

But what Ji Chuan hadn’t expected was that beneath Yan Huan’s cheerful exterior was a wounded heart.

Her soul was overshadowed, something every sick person has to varying degrees.

”I can’t leave Nancheng.” Yan Huan’s voice lowered, threads of bitterness spreading in her heart, ”Back then, after Cheng Yu had just died, Cheng family’s parents couldn’t bear to leave alone.

He could leave Jiangning, but it’s where his parents lived their entire lives, how could they just leave?

There are memories of their children’s growth, that is their treasure.

Then there’s his grandparents, if we were together, he would have to bring them over! For me alone, would the whole family move? Do you think that’s possible?

Jiangning’s winter is warm like spring, yet Nancheng is a snowy ice world!”

It’s been several years, but recalling the helplessness of reality and the feelings at the time of separation, Yan Huan’s heart still aches a bit.

This pain is deeply hidden in her memory, she doesn’t blame Cheng Yue for not choosing her, she can understand his struggles.

The reason she doesn’t choose Cheng Yue now is because it stands as a chasm between them!

A chasm that can’t be crossed!

Although Cheng Yue repeatedly assured her he would discuss and solve the matter with his parents, but, can it really be solved?

Yan Huan dared not imagine, if she throws herself into it again, loving passionately, what if they still can’t be together...
