Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2361: Chapter 2354: An Irresistible Gesture of Affection

In the military compound, security was tight, with patrolling guards marching in neat formations, shouting slogans as they passed Qin Jian’s car, stopping to salute each time.

Tall pine trees lined the road, the soldiers’ slogans echoed loudly, and the place exuded an imposing yet vibrant atmosphere.

It was He Fusheng’s first time in such a place, feeling both excited and nervous, with a hint of exhilaration.

If he hadn’t saved the commander’s child, he would never have had the chance to see military life.

The car stopped downstairs, and Qin Jian led them upstairs while Xiaozhou carried several large burlap bags up before leaving.

For the first time visiting the commander’s house, He Fusheng and He Yue’s eyes took in the unfamiliar environment. It was indeed a military family, marked by its uniqueness.

The items on the table were arranged neatly, the shoes on the rack were orderly, the home’s décor simple, yet everywhere carried the essence of military life.

Being in this environment for the first time, He Yue had a sparkle of excitement in her eyes.

”Brother He, Yueyue, please sit, I’ll make some tea!” An Hao went to the kitchen to wash the tea set and brewed good tea to welcome the guests from afar.

”Dr. An, you don’t have to keep busy. Yueyue and I are just here to see Guangguang, and we brought some mountain delicacies for you.” He Fusheng lifted his burlap sack and opened it, revealing it was full of mountain goods—wild mushrooms, hazelnuts, and the wild rabbits and pheasants he hunted in spring.

”Brother He! Just visiting is enough, why bring so much? You should keep it for yourselves!” Qin Jian, having grown up in the village, understood how hard it was to obtain these things.

”These wild tastes are my own catches. The mountain goods come from the homes of fellow villagers. You city folks don’t lack anything, but these mountain goods are only found in He Family Manor! Commander, you must accept them!” He Fusheng insisted.

”This... alright!” Qin Jian hesitated but eventually decided to accept, as it was heartfelt from Brother He and could not be refused.

”That’s more like it.” He Fusheng brightened up, ”I mainly came to check on Guangguang. Commander, what’s Guangguang’s condition? Let’s see if we can offer any help.

”Brother He, just call me by my name, or call me brother, there’s no need to call me commander, it’s too formal!” Qin Jian corrected He Fusheng’s address again, then briefly introduced the child’s condition, ”Guangguang’s memory isn’t a problem, but he can’t stand loud noises, especially car sounds. Once he hears them, he becomes agitated, hits people, and throws things! An Hao and I are quite worried about this!”

”Such a peculiar ailment?” He Fusheng pondered, ”It sure is noisy in the city, especially during rush hour. But our village is much more peaceful! If it’s possible, brother, what do you think about letting me take Guangguang back to stay for a few days?”

An Hao came out of the kitchen with washed fruit and overheard He Fusheng, feeling a little tempted, but thinking about the child going so far away, felt reluctant: ”Let’s forget it. Thank you, Brother He, but I think it’s better for Guangguang to stay here. After all, I’m a doctor; if anything happens, I can quickly take him to the hospital.”
