Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2381: Chapter 2274: It’s So Mushy, I Could Die

Cheng Yue received a call from home. His father, Cheng Nanfang, and mother, Qi Siyuan, were coming to Nancheng.

They were setting off right away and should arrive by that evening.

After hanging up, Cheng Yue felt very puzzled. His parents were doing just fine in Jiangning, so why the sudden trip to Nancheng?

Unless, it was that little rascal Qiqi stirring up trouble?

”Shen Qiqi! Speak up, did you say something to my parents? Why are they suddenly coming to Nancheng?” Cheng Yue asked coldly, looking at Shen Qiqi, who was snickering on the side.

”No, no!” Shen Qiqi quickly waved her hands, ”Why do you suspect me?”

”You are the most suspicious!”

”Really, I didn’t!”

”Dare to swear on it?” Cheng Yue said with a stern face, ”If you’re lying to me, may you face the wrath of heaven with thunder!”

”Cheng Yue!!” Shen Qiqi widened her eyes and pointed at his nose, saying discontentedly, ”You, you, you... you’re being too harsh on me, aren’t you? Talking about thunder and all! What kind of grudge do you have against me!”

”Afraid to swear?”

”I won’t curse myself!” Shen Qiqi huffed and turned away.

After Yan Huan finished her IV, she needed another one the next day. She didn’t have any serious condition, but Feng Yuzhi insisted she not be discharged.

The reason was simple.

She was creating opportunities for Yan Huan and Ji Chuan. Only if Yan Huan stayed in the hospital and didn’t go home would Ji Chuan have the time to be by her side!

Yan Huan vehemently refused.

But the arm couldn’t twist the leg; if Yan Huan disagreed, Feng Yuzhi would stay with her and keep her company.

Yan Huan resigned herself to it; with Comrade Feng being so dedicated, she couldn’t bear to refuse.

She agreed to inpatient treatment.

After work, Ji Chuan headed straight to Yan Huan’s ward, seeing her leaning against the headboard reading a book.

”How are you feeling?” Ji Chuan asked, sitting by Yan Huan’s bed.

Yan Huan closed her book, smiled, and said, ”Honestly, I’m not that sick. Comrade Feng insisted I stay! You know, she’s always had a good opinion of you!”

”She’s creating opportunities for me! Just for that, I can’t waste Auntie’s good intentions,” Ji Chuan said with a smile.

”So how do you plan to take advantage of this opportunity?” Yan Huan leaned back and asked with a smile.

”I’ve decided to stay with you all night tonight!” Ji Chuan said.

”No, no, no, you should rest if you need to! I can stay here by myself! This is your turf; I’ve seen the nurses and doctors sending you secret glances as they walk by. I don’t want to ruin their beautiful dreams and make myself a target,” Yan Huan pouted, imagining herself being shot with arrows like a porcupine.

”How could that be possible?” Ji Chuan chuckled lightly, ”Don’t worry, even if they throw knives at you, I’ll shield you.”

”Really?” Yan Huan half-joked.

Ji Chuan suddenly became serious: ”I’d go through fire and water for you! A thousand deaths would not deter me!”

”Oh my god! That’s so corny!” Yan Huan hugged her arms tightly, pretending to shiver from being cold.

”You call this corny? It can get even cornier. Do you want to hear it?” Ji Chuan suddenly brought his handsome face close to Yan Huan, blinking his beautiful eyes as he looked at her.

The sudden closeness of their cheeks startled Yan Huan. It was her first time seeing Ji Chuan’s face at such proximity.
