Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2389: Chapter 2282: My Marriage, My Decision

”What about you, Qiqi?” Qi Siyuan asked.

”I don’t get such good treatment! We nurses also have dorms, but it’s four people to a room, and it’s the kind with bunk beds!” Shen Qiqi said.

”Why are your conditions so poor?” Qi Siyuan said sympathetically, ”If your parents knew their daughter was here suffering and struggling, just think how upset they’d be.”

”Come on!” Shen Qiqi sneaked a glance at Cheng Yue, her pretty little face flushed, ”This way I can be closer to Cheng Yue!”

”Silly girl!” Qi Siyuan laughed and stroked her head, ”Is this brat really worth you treating him so well?”

”Of course!” Shen Qiqi whispered, ”My dream since childhood is to become Cheng Yue’s bride.”

”Alright! I’m also willing to let you be my daughter-in-law!” Qi Siyuan smiled contentedly.

Cheng Yue heard their conversation, and snorted coldly: ”I’ll decide my own marriage! Who I marry is up to me!”

”What you say doesn’t count!” Cheng Nanfang denied flatly, ”Your marriage is up to me!”

”Dad! You’re being unreasonable! What era is this? You still dare to arrange a marriage! Don’t forget you’re a soldier and a party member!” Cheng Yue said bluntly.

”And don’t you forget! I’m still your dad!” Cheng Nanfang said firmly.

”Back when you married mom, you decided for yourself, but now I can’t choose my wife!!” Cheng Yue protested adamantly.

”I had skills back then! The woman I fancied, I could win over, and you? Didn’t you also fancy a woman? What happened? Didn’t she break up with you?” Cheng Nanfang retorted.

”Dad, she broke up with me for my sake...” Cheng Yue defended Yan Huan wholeheartedly.

But before he could finish, Cheng Nanfang interrupted him: ”For your sake? I don’t quite see it that way.”

”Haven’t I explained to you all before? Yan Huan has asthma, and it’s very unusual. She absolutely cannot leave Nancheng, or else the condition will flare up, and it could be life-threatening!” Cheng Yue understood Feng Yuzhi’s decision, as she certainly wouldn’t want her daughter to lose her life over love.

”This is the first time I’ve heard of such a strange illness!” Cheng Nanfang replied.

”If I hadn’t seen it myself, I would also find it hard to understand! But it’s true, Yan Huan is in hospital now! I absolutely wouldn’t lie to you, and Yan Huan definitely wouldn’t lie to me!” Cheng Yue spoke, growing more emotional.

”Even if she wouldn’t lie to you, have you considered our position? Your sister passed away early, your grandparents, and grandpa and grandma couldn’t adapt to Nancheng’s weather. We were entirely uncertain back then. How much does this woman really love you?

So, we cannot move the whole family from Jiangning to Nancheng for an unknown factor?

Also, what about my job? Even if I retire, living in a strange city, how would your mother and I start over...”

”Enough, Old Cheng! Don’t say anything more, it’s rare for the son to come by, don’t start fighting as soon as you meet!” Qi Siyuan didn’t want to see them at odds, and quickly tried to change the subject.
