Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2362: Chapter 2355: Pinky Swear—A Hundred Years Without Breaking It

He Fusheng understood An Hao’s feelings. After all, no mother wants her child to leave her side. However, he thought if the city was too noisy, taking the children back to the village would make it quieter, wouldn’t it?

He thought this in his heart but didn’t say it out loud: ”Alright. If you need any help, just let me know. I’m always ready to help!”

An Hao expressed her gratitude profusely.

The adults sat together drinking tea and chatting, while Ning Chenguang and He Yue had already run off somewhere.

However, no matter how far they ran, they couldn’t leave the military compound, so Qin Jian wasn’t worried.

In the past, at He Family’s village, He Yue would drag Ning Chenguang up the mountains to catch birds and down the river to catch fish. Now in the military compound, Ning Chenguang was the one taking He Yue on adventures.

Everything here was so new and exciting to He Yue. She watched the people in military uniforms pass by, stopping to talk to Ning Chenguang as they went.

Ning Chenguang wasn’t afraid at all; he puffed out his small chest and conversed with them fluently, like a little grown-up.

A sense of envy and admiration sprouted in He Yue’s heart.

”Big brother, you’re amazing! So many soldiers are talking to you!”

”That’s because my dad is the commander!” Ning Chenguang said, already used to it, ”Yueyue, do you want them to talk to you too?”

”Mm!” He Yue nodded and then shook her head, ”I hope someday they talk to me not because Uncle Qin is a commander, but because of you, big brother!”

”Do you want me to be a soldier too?” Ning Chenguang scratched his head and asked He Yue.

”Of course! If you’re a soldier, I’ll be one too!” He Yue felt a mysterious longing for the military, and the green uniform inexplicably attracted her.

”Then... alright. If Yueyue wants me to be a soldier, I’ll be a soldier!” Ning Chenguang said.

”Pinky promise!” He Yue extended her small hand, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Ning Chenyang, ”Once we promise, our agreement will be binding!”

”Alright! Pinky swear, a hundred years and no changes!” Ning Chenyang hooked his finger with hers.

”Let’s stamp it too!” He Yue was afraid Ning Chenguang would back out, so she extended her thumb as well, ”Three times!”

”Silly, don’t you trust me, Yueyue?” Ning Chenguang looked into her eyes and asked.

He Yue shook her head earnestly: ”I trust you a lot, big brother, but the more you trust someone, the more seriously they must promise! You can’t lie to me! Never, or I’ll be disappointed!”

”Alright! Don’t worry, Yueyue! I promise!” Ning Chenguang looked at their tightly hooked fingers, a sweet smile appearing on his lips.

At this moment, neither of the little friends knew how drastically their world would change in the future, and this promise would become a witness to their intertwined destinies.

”Big brother, you’re the best!” He Yue also smiled, feeling that her brother’s smile was the most brilliant in the world.

”You’re great too, Yueyue!” Ning Chenguang laughed heartily, flashing his white teeth as he pointed to the southeast direction, ”Come on, I’ll take you to see the old war-time air-raid shelters over there!”

”Okay!”

Ning Chenguang took hold of He Yue’s little hand and ran towards the other side of the compound.

At this moment, two military vehicles drove over from afar. As they approached the running children, fearing they might hit them, they honked to signal.

Suddenly, Ning Chenguang stopped in his tracks, letting out a loud ”ah” and covering his ears as he rolled onto the ground.
