Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2031: Chapter 2024: Approving Three Days Off for You

”Not bad! Your eloquence has improved quite a bit since before! You’ve even learned how to joke with me.” Zhang Jianguo said with a smile, ”Well done, An Hao!”

Qin Jian: ”...”

”I just came to see you. As long as this data is fine, I can rest assured.” Zhang Jianguo got up and grabbed his satchel, ”I need to head back now. The comrades from the armory will probably arrive soon! I’ve got to hand it over to them on your behalf.”

”Alright then! In that case, take care. I can’t see you off, so I won’t.” Qin Jian said.

”Get some good rest. How many days off are you allowed?” Zhang Jianguo asked.

”Do I even have the right to choose my vacation now?” Qin Jian asked with a smile.

”Don’t I know you? If you had nothing to do, you’d be cooped up at home not coming to work?”

”I wouldn’t dare.” Qin Jian finished speaking, thought about it, and held up three fingers, ”Give me three days off!”

”Then take five days! Come in to report once you’ve had enough rest!”

”No need for five days! Three is enough! I still have something urgent to handle here!” Qin Jian was still thinking about Gan Tian’s situation.

Since he remembered now, he decided to discuss it with Zhang Jianguo.

”You sure have a lot going on! Why do I feel like you’re busier as a regimental commander than I am as a brigade commander?” Zhang Jianguo sat back down, ”Go ahead, what else is urgent?”

”It’s about Gan Tian!”

”Gan Tian? The one from the communications company? What happened now?” Zhang Jianguo remembered she was taken by the National Security Bureau for investigation.

”She’s in the medical unit now! She’s a spy!” Qin Jian said with conviction.

”What?” Judging by his expression, Zhang Jianguo knew Qin Jian was certain, ”Do you have evidence? If you do, we can hand her over to the National Security Bureau for reinvestigation immediately!”

”Yes! A decisive witness!”

”Who?”

”Gan Tian herself!”

”What? You’re tossing Gan Tian’s name around so much you’re confusing me.” Zhang Jianguo said.

”The female soldier in the unit is not Gan Tian! Her name is Hong Mei! More accurately, her real name isn’t Hong Mei! Hong Mei is her codename!”

”What you’re saying is very serious!” Zhang Jianguo frowned, ”This bait-and-switch trick is quite fierce! A spy infiltrated our ranks! And we only just got the evidence, it’s infuriating!”

”But, it’s about to end! An Hao has found the real Gan Tian! Once the two are confronted, we can arrest the fake Gan Tian!”

Qin Jian said.

”Good! I’ll communicate the situation with the National Security Bureau this afternoon! At the same time, I’ll have our troops conduct a self-examination!”

”Yes!”

.........

When something happened to Qin Jian, the unit quickly found out.

Even the cooks were buzzing with discussion.

Hong Mei, who was cleaning in the company, heard others talking, tossed her things on the ground, and joined in.

”What’s going on? I heard the regimental commander had an accident?”

”Not sure! If you want to know, go find out yourself.” Everyone knew she had been investigated by the National Security Bureau, so regardless of whether she was a spy, they were wary of her.

”Don’t be so stingy! You all have a prejudice against me! I’m being wronged...” Hong Mei said, frustrated.

”Break it up, break it up! Don’t chatter about the leaders behind their backs! If the company commander finds out, we’re going to get scolded again!”
