Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 2016: Chapter 2009: Mutual Threats

Originally, she was one of the top intelligence officers within the organization.

But ever since she came to Nancheng, she constantly encountered trouble and various setbacks.

She attributed the source of these setbacks to An Hao.

”This is just too easy on you.” An Hao gritted his teeth, his voice coming out from his throat, ”Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve done! On the fifteenth of the first lunar month, near South Street, I nearly died under your knife! Even now I haven’t been able to capture you and bring you to justice, that’s why you’re so smug.”

That incident has always been something An Hao couldn’t let go of.

She originally didn’t plan to say these things, but seeing the smile on Hong Mei’s face made her feel uncomfortable all over.

That smile carried a bit of provocation, but more of triumph.

”Oh, you found out.” Hong Mei had already been exposed in front of An Hao, and since that was the case, she no longer pretended and revealed her true nature, ”You’re absolutely right, it was me who tried to kill you on the fifteenth. But what can you do about it? What can the National Security Bureau do about it? Isn’t it true you have no evidence?”

She was absolutely right, and because of that, there was nothing that could be done to her.

An Hao clenched his fists tightly and landed two punches on her face.

”Don’t be so full of yourself! If I remember correctly, you’ll be discharged soon. In this way, your plans will also fail to be executed.”

Hong Mei’s face gradually fell, this was exactly the unsolvable problem she was currently facing.

If she retired, she would have no direct contact with the military.

If she wanted to obtain more military secrets, she would have to climb higher.

Originally, she wanted to use Tian Niu as a stepping stone, but she failed.

Now she was in the mess hall and couldn’t connect with higher-ranking leaders. Her plan to stay in the military district through marriage was completely hopeless.

”An Hao, do you know why I hate you? Hate you to the point of wanting to kill you?” Hong Mei said coldly as she looked at An Hao.

”Because I discovered your secret! So you want to kill me...”

”Not entirely.” Hong Mei said, ”Because you made me suffer the first failure of my life.”

This was what she could never accept!

”Is that so? Then congratulations, I hope your life continues to encounter countless such failures!” An Hao ’sent’ her one last remark.

Hong Mei was successfully angered by An Hao. She realized that this woman who looked gentle and pretty was not merely as gentle as she had previously believed.

She had a bit of stubbornness in her bones, a bit of pride, just like a rose with thorns, beautiful to look at but prickly to the touch.

”I’ll accept your blessing, and I’ll also send you a blessing: be careful walking, you might just encounter another disaster out of nowhere. You won’t be as lucky as last time.” Hong Mei retorted unceremoniously.

After saying this, she turned and strode away.

”Then I’ll be waiting! Someday I’ll uncover your true face! Don’t think you can get away with it time and again.” An Hao shouted loudly at her back.

Hong Mei stopped in her tracks, turned to look at An Hao, and smiled smugly: ”Uncovering my true face, I’m afraid you won’t be able to do that in this lifetime. Unless, you can find Gan Tian! Oh, I forgot to tell you, Gan Tian will never return in this lifetime. I killed her!”
