Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1739: Chapter 1738: Let’s Leave Together

Mu Qiankun seemed to have sensed the feelings between the two people. He slowly turned his head, looking at Lin Sheng and Mu Mian.

Seeing the tension and guarded expression in his daughter’s eyes, Mu Qiankun felt a pang in his heart. He opened his mouth slowly and said to Mu Mian, ”Go! Hurry and leave!”

”Dad...” Mu Mian was astonished.

”No matter what, you are still my daughter! I may die, but I can’t let you get dragged down with me! You and Lin Sheng are innocent!” Mu Qiankun said with heartache. ”I just wanted you to live a life free from worries.”

”Stop making excuses for your greed! You know, this has never been what I wanted!” Mu Mian turned her head, looked at Lin Sheng, and said, ”Let’s go!”

”Alright!” Lin Sheng nodded. Just as he grabbed Mu Mian’s hand, ready to surrender himself, he noticed the big guy and Rat standing back-to-back, each holding a gun aimed at the lower backs of two other men.

One of the men had his hands raised in surrender.

The other man was holding a woman in his arms. The woman appeared to be unconscious, and her face seemed somewhat familiar.

”Sister-in-law!” Before Mu Mian could recognize her, Lin Sheng identified her first.

”Who?” Mu Mian asked in shock.

”It’s Brother Qin’s wife!” Lin Sheng said. ”We can’t leave now!”

Mu Mian nodded. Her father had reached a desperate point, and who knew what he might do next.

What if An Hao fell into his hands and he had a change of heart along the way? What then?

Besides, An Hao had also saved her before.

She couldn’t just escape and turn a blind eye to this.

”Alright. We won’t leave! But we must absolutely pretend we don’t know her,” Lin Sheng whispered into Mu Mian’s ear.

Mu Qiankun grew irritated when he saw the two of them hesitating and stalling. ”What are you two doing? Aren’t you leaving yet?”

”Mu Shu, we’re not leaving! If we go, we go together! Since you brought us onto this path, even if we claim we’ve done nothing, do you think the police would believe us?”

”Dad, I’m going with you! If it really comes down to dying, then we’ll die together!” Mu Mian’s words carried a hidden meaning, but they still made Mu Qiankun’s eyes redden.

The big guy and Rat dragged the hostages over to join Mu Qiankun and the others.

”Prepare a car for us and guarantee our safe departure! Hurry up, or I’ll shoot him!” Rat yelled, pressing his gun firmly against Dr. Lu’s waist.

The police had received a tip-off about Old Four’s location, so they hastily assembled their forces and rushed over, but they didn’t have time to position a sniper.

Given their marksmanship, firing a shot would be incredibly risky.

But the drug traffickers had hostages and were yelling demands to leave. Not letting them go could force the traffickers into a corner.

Weighing the pros and cons, the captain made a decision. ”Give them a car! Let them leave!”

At the same time, he instructed his personnel to quickly contact headquarters to dispatch reinforcements, including a sniper.

Rat unlocked the vehicle and crammed all seven or eight people into the jeep. He twisted the key, started the engine, and drove off.

The jeep crossed one street, then another. It navigated through narrow winding paths, gradually heading toward the foot of the mountain hidden within the dense forest.

........................

Late that night, around midnight.

The exercise zone was eerily quiet.

The Red Team’s troops had already withdrawn from the exercise zone. After tonight, Qin Jian and his group were scheduled to depart early the next morning.
