Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1720: Chapter 1719: Passing the Message

”The surgery for the important person is definitely happening! I’ve just come downstairs, and I heard that a military aircraft has landed on the rooftop! It must be for some big leader from the troops who needs surgery, right?” Ji Chuan speculated.

”Maybe. There must be a reason Teacher Yan isn’t taking me along! Director Ji, do you think I’ve become an eyesore since our General Surgery department hasn’t been busy lately? Are you trying to drive me out?” An Hao said half-jokingly.

”No, no! That’s not what I meant at all. You’ve misunderstood!” Ji Chuan replied with a chuckle.

Thump thump thump!

There was a knock at the door, and Ji Chuan turned his head to look outside, only to see a man in a patient’s gown standing at the doorway.

”Chuanzi!”

”Bro! How did you get down here? Weren’t you supposed to have surgery today?” Ji Chuan asked.

”Don’t even mention it! It’s a long story!” The man known as Bro is the chief of staff’s brother-in-law, ”The surgery was all set for this morning! It was supposed to be performed by Yan Ye, who’s a master surgeon! But this guy has been going out to do interviews every day, right? So, he recommended Dr. Lu to me, saying that Dr. Lu is pretty good too. I thought, why not? Dr. Lu is part of the expert team, and he participated in that very famous minimally invasive surgery! So, I agreed! Just when I was about to go into the operating room, Dr. Lu received an emergency task from his superiors. My surgery was just canceled!”

”Emergency task? Are you saying that the big helicopter currently on the rooftop is taking people off for an emergency task?” Ji Chuan guessed, but he really wanted to know what this emergency task was, so he continued to ask, ”What kind of emergency task could possibly put your surgery on hold?”

”Ah! When I first heard my surgery was being postponed, I wasn’t happy at all! I am, after all, the chief of staff’s brother-in-law! Although my surgery isn’t urgent, it’s still a major one! You’ve got to give me some priority, right? Just as I was about to blow up at Dr. Lu, I suddenly heard him explaining that the injured person is a regimental commander who was part of a military exercise! This individual is highly regarded by the military leadership!

They were given strict orders from above to save him first! They said the other party was in critical condition and could die at any moment! Now you tell me, a regimental commander got injured during a military exercise with such serious injuries, it wouldn’t be right for me to make a fuss and act bratty, right? Being a military family member requires higher awareness than the average citizen! So, I just let them go. We can always do the surgery when they come back!” Bro rambled on with a lot to say.

”Your sense of duty is indeed very high!” Ji Chuan gave him a thumbs up.

He has known this Bro for some years, a good man who might appear carefree but is someone who really steps up when it matters.

An Hao stood by, listening to Bro with bated breath, and quickly asked, ”Excuse me, did Dr. Lu mention the name of the seriously injured commander?”

Bro thought for a moment, then shook his head, ”No, he didn’t! I didn’t hear the name, but... he seemed to have called out ’Commander Qin’! Yes, that’s right! Commander Qin!”

The moment An Hao heard the name ’Commander Qin’ from Bro’s mouth, it felt like his head had exploded with a bang, as if the world had collapsed, and his heart’s blood seemed to freeze.
