Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1719: Chapter 1718: Set Off Immediately

Doctor Lu received this sudden notice just as he was preparing to enter the operating room.

”Director Yan, if I leave, what will happen to my surgery?”

”Find someone to replace you to complete it! If it is not especially urgent, delaying it by a day or two won’t impact the patient’s life and safety; just push it back a bit,” Yan Ye said.

”Who is the surgery for? Is it really that important?” Doctor Lu asked.

”A regiment commander injured during a military exercise! Higher-ups are taking this matter very seriously, and they have given a direct order to the hospital dean, insisting that we must save the regiment commander’s life at all costs!” Yan Ye explained.

”That’s quite the background,” Doctor Lu said as he packed his things.

”Hmm.”

”More important than my current patient? This patient is the nephew-in-law of the staff chief from the 36th Division!” Doctor Lu exclaimed.

”In our eyes, there is no distinction between patients in terms of importance. All lives are equal, and we should treat them without discrimination! However, we do need to differentiate between urgent and non-urgent cases! Right now, the other party’s life hangs by a thread! Since the orders have been issued from above, we must comply! Arrange for your current surgery or go and explain the situation to the patient. I’ll wait for you here in five minutes!”

”Alright, see you in a bit, Director.”

Doctor Lu went to explain the situation to his patient, to see if they wanted to wait or have another doctor take over the surgery.

Yan Ye paced back and forth in the hallway, contemplating whether or not to inform An Hao.

To be honest, with the situation unclear, if he told An Hao, she would surely become very anxious and would certainly want to follow along.

But if he didn’t tell her, and if Qin Jian really were at his last moments, it would be a great pity if the couple couldn’t see each other for one last time.

Yan Ye pondered and couldn’t decide how to break the news to An Hao.

Doctor Lu canceled the surgery and came back, saying to Yan Ye, ”I’ve canceled the surgery! Everything’s been communicated well with the patient. Although they had some complaints, after hearing about the military orders, they had nothing more to say!”

”That’s good. Are you ready?” Yan Ye asked.

”Yes. I’m ready to leave at any moment,” Doctor Lu replied.

As the two were talking, they heard the rumbling noise of the helicopter from the rooftop.

”Let’s go! Head to the rooftop!”

”Okay.”

Just then, the dean also came over and said to Yan Ye and Doctor Lu, ”Let’s go, I will personally see you onto the plane!”

.........

General Surgery.

A group of doctors and nurses were crowding around An Hao, chattering and asking various questions about her feelings after becoming famous.

An Hao patiently answered them one by one.

Ji Chuan walked in with a stack of medical records under his arm. Seeing An Hao talking with others, he couldn’t help but be curious, ”Why are you still here? Didn’t that guy Yan Ye call you for the surgery?”

”Director Ji, are you kidding? I’m now with General Surgery, how could Teacher Yan call me for a cardiothoracic surgery?” An Hao said with a laugh.

”Isn’t it the case that Yan Ye brings you along for observation and learning for any significant surgeries? Moreover, your surgical skills are not bad, especially during suturing—your movements are very steady, and the sutures you make are perfect... You are his most promising student, so it’s peculiar that he wouldn’t bring you along for this surgery...” Ji Chuan said.

”Peculiar? What’s peculiar about that? Isn’t it quite normal? Perhaps the surgery is too difficult? I might not be able to help if I went! Or maybe it’s a surgery for some important mission, and it would be inconvenient to bring me along?” An Hao speculated.
