Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1704: Chapter 1704 Planning Action

”Who could have predicted this mess?” Zhao Dong’s brows were tightly furrowed. ”Commander, our unit hasn’t seen anything like this for years, and now we’ve stumbled upon it. It’s just too embarrassing!”

”Losing face is the least of our concerns. As long as Lin Sheng stays out of this, there’s still hope!”

”What are you talking about, Commander? It’s already come to this and you’re still worried about him. You can know someone’s face, but not their heart. Look at that rascal Lin Sheng, given such an opportunity and doesn’t know to cherish it, just squandering it away...” The Commander’s protégé, if only the Commander had intentions to groom him, and he himself put in some effort, he could have an unlimited future in the military.

”Alright, let’s stop talking about all this nonsense. It’s getting late, let’s get some rest!” Qin Jian said as he snuffed out the cigarette in his hand and got up to walk towards the tent.

...............

The county town.

Inside a residential house, it was bustling with action, Mu Qiankun’s gang of brothers from the underworld were drinking here, while Mu Mian was cooking for them in the kitchen, mechanically wielding the spatula, but her mind had long since flown away.

They had already arrived at the county town closest to the border.

In a few days, Mu Qiankun was going to make a run, and this time he was planning to take Lin Sheng with him. She was worried something might go wrong with Lin Sheng.

Lin Sheng was very resistant to this deal, successful or not, it would taint his entire life with drug trafficking.

Thinking of this, Mu Mian’s hatred for Mu Qiankun deepened even further.

What added insult to injury was that Mu Qiankun had even learned to use Lin Sheng to control her. As long as she didn’t speak up, they would get Lin Sheng to take drugs, until she became obedient.

”Hey, Mianmian! Are you done cooking yet? A whole bunch of people are waiting! Hurry, hurry, hurry! The tables are running out of food!” Mu Qiankun yelled loudly.

”Coming!” Mu Mian quickly tossed the food in the pan a few times, and as she transferred the dish to the plate, she thought for a moment, bowed her head, and spat a big loogie into it, ”Eat! Hope it kills you!”

As Mu Mian served the food on the table, Mu Qiankun and his table were in high spirits.

She put the dish down and turned to leave, then she overheard the people at the table beginning to discuss the operation.

”We’ve been here for a while now and have scouted the route pretty well! Is it time for us to make a move?” The tall guy was munching on chicken with his mouth so full that his words were somewhat muffled.

”Hmm. I think we should hold off for a bit,” said Mu Qiankun, putting down his glass and chopsticks, ”We’re not very lucky this time. Just so happens there’s a military exercise going on, right on this border line. If we cross the border now, wouldn’t that be suicide?”

”Kun Bro! That doesn’t sound like you at all! When things were tough down south, when Yunnan was no longer an option, and the borders here were so tightly sealed, we shifted to the north. But now that we’re here, if we don’t take the chance, and the weather turns colder, this place is going to freeze over with ice!” the tall guy said.

”Big guy! The last few times I came back from the north, except for one encounter with the narcotics police, it was actually pretty smooth. And not only can we traffick drugs, but we can traffick people, too. Do you know how lovely those Xian Country girls are? If we smuggle them over quietly... not only can they be sold for a good price, they could also serve as a cover...”
