Chapter 1738: Chapter 1737 Hostages

The last time, Mu Qiankun was cornered on the street with nowhere to run. He took two hostages in front of everyone, instantly forcing the police into a standoff.

It was precisely because of those two hostages that Mu Qiankun managed to escape by sheer luck.

”Alright. In a moment, I’ll lead them over here! Then...”

”Got it!”

The big guy, who had been listening nearby, quickly chimed in, ”But won’t grabbing hostages to escape be more trouble? Not only do we have to take care of ourselves, but we also have to manage the hostages? If the police focus on finding the hostages, wouldn’t we have nowhere to run, nowhere to hide?”

”That makes sense.” Mu Qiankun nodded, feeling the logic in his words.

As he hesitated, suddenly, five or six police cars roared toward them, their sirens blaring. Alarmed, Mu Qiankun immediately realized, ”Shit! It must be that bastard Lao Si who got caught! Now they’ve sold us out!”

”Kun, I told you Lao Si couldn’t be trusted! What are we waiting for? Let’s make a run for it!” the big guy said hurriedly, panic in his voice.

But as the police cars blocked every road in and out, leaving no escape routes, Mu Qiankun, with nowhere to hide or run, grew anxious and instinctively reached out to grab a hostage.

”Kun! Don’t grab someone random as a hostage; that’s worthless! If we’re taking hostages, grab someone important! Look—across the street? Those three in white coats—they’re doctors, maybe even specialists! Taking them would make escaping way easier than with regular people,” said Mouse.

”Makes sense! Mouse has a good point!” the big guy yelled excitedly. Taking advantage of the chaos as the police moved in, he and Mouse rushed across the street.

An Hao had seen the big guy before. The moment she saw him running toward her and heard the piercing sound of the police sirens, she instantly understood. Just as she opened her mouth to yell, ”Run—”

The big guy lunged forward and knocked her out cold with a single punch.

”Hey, who the hell are you? What kind of person hits someone out of nowhere?” Yan Ye exclaimed. He caught An Hao as she collapsed and tried to help her up, but then suddenly felt the cold steel pressed against his head. ”If you don’t want to die, cooperate! Otherwise, I’ll blow your head off!”

At the same time, Mouse pressed a gun to Dr. Lu’s lower back. ”Stay quiet and do as I say! If you try anything funny, I’ll make sure your death is painful!”

Meanwhile, the narcotics team officers all exited their vehicles, working quickly to evacuate the surrounding civilians.

A dozen officers raised their pitch-black firearms, aiming directly at the big guy and his group. ”Release the hostages and come with us. You might still have a sliver of hope for survival. Otherwise, the only thing waiting for you is death!”

”You think I’ll believe your bullshit? Screw you! Move, all of you, or I’ll shoot them right now!” the big guy roared, racking his gun with a click that sent a chill down everyone’s spines.

”Don’t be stupid and make this worse! Look at how many of your people we’ve already captured. You should know by now—resistance is futile! Only by surrendering can you hope for leniency!” the narcotics team captain shouted, his voice hoarse from commanding.

”Surrender, my ass! Don’t try to con me!” The big guy spat, refusing to buy into their talk.

”Cut the crap! Get the hell out of our way, right now!” Mouse snarled, his eyes bloodshot. Raising his pistol, he fired a shot into the air. ”Don’t make me say it again, or I’ll blow his leg off!”

Concerned for the hostages’ safety, the officers reluctantly stepped back. Their eyes, however, never left the criminals, maintaining constant vigilance.

Meanwhile, this exact moment became the perfect opportunity for Lin Sheng and Mu Mian to make their escape.

If the two of them fled now, no one would be able to stop them.
