Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1717: Chapter 1716: Shot

”Killed? Fourth Brother, if we kill the PLA, I reckon we wouldn’t have anywhere to hide for the rest of our lives, right?” Liuzi couldn’t help but tremble in fear upon hearing Lao Si’s words.

”If it’s just a few, kill them. By taking advantage of the night, we can quickly escape. Otherwise, once discovered, we’re all done for,” Lao Si gritted his teeth and said.

”Listen to Fourth Brother!” Liuzi nodded, silently cursing the tall man’s ancestors in his heart for generations; it was his fault they were in this predicament!

Qin Jian, Colonel Wu, and Zhao Dong were moving through the darkness; the rain was so heavy that the entire sky was pitch black as if they had entered a black hole.

The deeper they went, the slower their pace became.

Using his sharp instincts honed from years in the military, Qin Jian sensed danger not far ahead. He stopped, gently tapped Colonel Wu’s shoulder, and gestured for him to hand over the binoculars.

Colonel Wu took the binoculars hanging around his neck, looked through them, but the view was pitch black and he could see nothing. He shook his head at Qin Jian.

”Colonel, should we still proceed? It’s too dark ahead! I’m a bit worried,” Zhao Dong whispered into Qin Jian’s ear.

As Qin Jian was contemplating their next move, suddenly the sound of rapid gunfire erupted from outside, followed by a warrior shouting, ”Stop! Stop there!”

”Catch him! Catch him!”

”Something’s wrong!!” Colonel Wu decisively turned around, ”Let’s go, head back!”

”I’m now sure that someone has intruded into our exercise area!” Zhao Dong said with certainty, ”But what is the intruder’s purpose?”

”Nonsense! Now everyone knows someone has intruded. Come on, retreat!” Qin Jian waved his hand, and the three of them turned around to head back.

The drug dealers hiding in the dense forest heard Qin Jian and others talking about retreating and quietly breathed a sigh of relief. Holding their guns had been so tiring and their arms were already sore.

Just as they were quietly putting away their guns, someone accidentally pulled the trigger, and with a bang, a bullet shot out of the muzzle.

Immediately afterwards, a muffled groan was heard, and someone fell to the ground upfront.

”Damn it! Who the hell did that? Do you want to die? Let’s go, quickly!” Lao Si was about to be infuriated to death by these incompetent teammates, firing a shot at such close range.

Just when they were frantically planning to retreat, suddenly there was a disturbance ahead, and a voice screamed desperately: ”Colonel!!”

”There’s someone in the woods! Quick, go after them!”

”Chase my ass! The bullet hit near the Colonel’s heart!”

”He’s not dead yet! Quickly contact headquarters!” A cold yet calm voice commanded orderly, ”Save him first, don’t pursue the assailant for now! The assailant has live rounds, and we’re unclear on the number of attackers; recklessly pursuing is dangerous. Contact headquarters to report the situation and await orders from the division commander!”

Nancheng City, newspaper office.

After finishing an interview, An Hao dragged his weary body outside.

This was already the umpteenth interview recently.

Every time sitting down, he had to talk incessantly until his throat was dry.

After all said and done, it was the same content over and over.

An Hao felt he could now recite it backwards.

”Professor Yan, how many more endless interviews are there? I feel like this is more exhausting than standing in an operating theatre,” An Hao lamented.
