Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1699: Chapter 1699: What If I Agree...

Once the surgery is successful,

Yan Ye will have pioneered a new approach and also acquired valuable experience. How precious is this first-hand experience??

It’s more than just a little beneficial for the elderly patient; she won’t have to endure the pain brought by a large surgical incision, nor worry about postoperative complications like chest pain.

The smaller incisions of minimally invasive surgery also generally lead to better recovery.

Of course, Ji Chuan proposed this because he has confidence in the techniques that Yan Ye has developed. After many years of research, there has been a breakthrough. Wouldn’t this be the time for a bold application?

Ji Chuan taking the risk to suggest this scheme to Yan Ye could mean a lot. If they weren’t friends, who would go out of their way to worry about such matters? Others wouldn’t even bother.

Ji Chuan suggests Yan Ye takes this bold step exactly because they have a good relationship and admire each other’s work. Therefore, he hopes that Yan Ye will attempt it.

”I’ll think about it some more...” Yan Ye is somewhat tempted by Ji Chuan’s persuasion but is still unable to make a decision right now.

”That’s fine. Think it over later? Shall we go down for a bite to eat?” Ji Chuan is already very hungry.

”No, thanks. I’m not hungry. You go ahead without me,” replied Yan Ye.

”Alright then, I’ll bring you some food when I come back up!” said An Hao.

As they were leaving the office, Ji Chuan said to An Hao while walking, ”Actually, I think you might persuade Yan Ye. You may not be very familiar with his research in the past two years, but I am. I feel there’s a possibility of success for Yan Ye.”

”No,” An Hao shook her head, ”I don’t think we should take the risk. She is Qin Jian’s relative, and therefore, my relative too. If Teacher Yan isn’t one hundred percent certain about the minimally invasive surgery, I don’t want him to try it. You don’t know, the elder has suffered too much in her life. She’s finally experiencing better days, and I hope the surgery is successful so she can live a few more years.”

”An Hao, I am also a doctor. Our duty is to heal and save lives, and I too hope the elder can live longer. But you’ve seen the current situation. After analyzing the risks, don’t you think these two risks are about the same? Although conventional surgery is well-established, the elder’s health is worrisome. I feel if she undergoes such surgery, her chances of survival might actually be lower. You say the minimally invasive technique is immature, but if it fails, we can still resort to conventional surgery...”

”Director Ji, stop it. This decision carries a great risk for Teacher Yan, do you really want to see Qiushu and Teacher Yan part ways over this?”

”Of course not...but...”

”There’s no ’but’,” An Hao cut him off, ”We don’t have a say in this matter, it depends on Teacher Yan, Qiushu, and the grandmother’s decision.”

”What if I agree...” Suddenly, at the corner of the hallway, Lin Qiushu appeared, startling An Hao.

”Qiushu? What do you agree to??” asked An Hao.

”Actually, I heard everything you said in the office. I mean, perhaps, it might be worth a try,” Lin Qiushu said to An Hao.

”You mean the minimally invasive surgery?” An Hao was surprised. ”Why would you agree...?”

”Yes, I’ve agreed. After listening to Director Ji’s reasoning, it made sense to me. If the risks are the same, I’d choose the surgery that causes less pain for grandma...” Lin Qiushu said.
