Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1657: Chapter 1657: At the Disposal of the Team Leader

“I’m sorry, Commander. You know about my situation! That’s why… I really understand Lin Sheng’s emotions. Seeing how much he despises drug traffickers, grinding his teeth in hatred, I just wanted to comfort him a bit. So, I ended up telling Lin Sheng about what happened last night.”

He merely wanted to use this incident to let Lin Sheng experience that exhilarating sense of revenge.

To them, drug traffickers are a collective entity.

Eliminating any one of them is a cause for great joy! After all, just one gram of drugs on the streets can harm the people.

Many people are not very familiar with drugs, but Lin Sheng is no stranger to them.

Drugs can undermine someone’s will, destroy a person’s life, and shatter a family’s happiness…

Their hatred for drug traffickers can extend from one person to an entire group.

The death of any drug trafficker, the dismantling of any drug trafficking ring, will make them happy for a long time.

“Alright. I’ll forgive you this time. But this is the only time, no exceptions!” Qin Jian understood Zhao Dong’s emotions; he had personally witnessed this man, this towering figure, lying on the loess ground, crying helplessly like a child.

The heart-wrenching sobs that tore through the air still linger in his ears to this day.

“Thank you, Commander!” Lin Dong saluted respectfully.

“Forgiving you is one thing. But punishment is still necessary!” Qin Jian said sternly.

“Reporting, Commander, I am willing to take all the punishment by myself,” Zhang Dong said loudly. After all, if he had been more strict last night and sent Lin Sheng back, neither of them would have made a mistake.

“Are you trying to protect him?” Qin Jian raised his voice by an octave, “Company Leader Zhao, this worries me! Shielding your soldier doesn’t work this way! Lin Sheng’s mistake is much more serious than yours! Both of you must be severely punished!”

“Yes! I leave it to the Commander to decide. Be it a five, ten, or twenty-kilometer penalty run, obstacle course, pull-ups, sit-ups… anything,” Lin Dong began to say, but Qin Jian interrupted him:

“Within one week, I want you to handwrite the military secrecy regulations and the discipline code five hundred times each.”

“What? Each written five hundred times? Doesn’t that add up to a thousand times?” Zhao Dong wailed, “Commander, can we do a different punishment? How about I do two thousand push-ups? A twenty-kilometer cross-country run…”

“No! You don’t need to think about that. I won’t be punishing you in that way!” Qin Jian said.

“Commander, I didn’t even finish middle school! As a kid, the thing I dreaded most was my mom forcing me to do homework. If I was lazy and didn’t want to write, she’d chase me around with a stick… It still makes my skin crawl just thinking about it…” He thought about how that nightmare followed him for so long, only ending when he joined the military.

“Yes, it’s precisely because you’re afraid that I’m punishing you!”

“Commander, can’t we change it?” Zhao Dong pleaded, trying to negotiate a different punishment.

“No negotiation!” Qin Jian said in a deep voice.

“Commander…” Zhao Dong realized that begging was futile and gave up.

It was said in the unit that the Commander’s punishments were the most inhumane, and this was true ever since his time as a battalion commander.

This time he truly understood how dreadful and bitter they were!

However, for every policy from above, there’s a countermeasure below. He could ask the soldiers to copy for him.

He was only told to submit it within a week; no one said he had to copy it all by himself!
