Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1658: Chapter 1658: You Want Me to Surveil Him?

Qin Jian had long seen through his mind. Could Zhao Dong’s crafty trickery really escape his eyes?

”The same mission, halved, is now assigned to your entire company.”

”What? Commander? Isn’t this unfair? I’m the one who made a mistake, not someone else?”

”Isn’t Lin Sheng also someone who has made a mistake? My intention is to tell you all, when errors are made again, to think carefully about your fellow warriors. This is a collective! If there’s a need for punishment, it’s the collective that should be punished. Similarly, it’s also to serve the purpose of having you all supervise each other!” Qin Jian said.

An arm can never twist a thigh, after all.

Zhao Dong had no choice but to obey!

This was a punishment, and he must accept it!

”Commander, is there anything else you need?” Zhao Dong asked with a heavy heart.

”Yes. For the following matter, I need you to keep it a secret for me,” Qin Jian said seriously, looking at Zhao Dong, ”Can you keep your lips sealed this time?”

”Commander, when you put it that way, why does my heart thump so anxiously? I feel a sense of nervousness!” Zhao Dong said, covering his chest.

”You don’t have to feel nervous! I’m entrusting you with this task, and you must complete it earnestly. Otherwise, the punishment next time will not be so simple!”

”Okay! Commander, just tell me! I indeed made a mistake that should not have been made this time! But rest assured, I won’t make the same mistake a second time,” Zhao Dong said.

”Good. I want you to keep an eye on every move of Lin Sheng for me! Including the trends in his thoughts.”

”What? You want me to surveil Lin Sheng?” Zhao Dong was very surprised.

”This isn’t surveillance. It’s just asking you to pay more attention to him. I feel that Lin Sheng’s state today seems a bit off,” Qin Jian had his reasonable suspicions.

Lin Sheng has always wanted to be a soldier.

Mu Mian also hoped that Lin Sheng could become a soldier. When she and Tian Niu wanted to thank Mu Mian and Lin Sheng for their lifesaving care, they offered a considerable amount of money.

For a girl living in a village, this was not a small amount of money.

Even enough to buy a house in the village.

However, Mu Mian firmly refused them. Her only wish at the time was to let Qin Jian give Lin Sheng a chance to become a soldier.

Qin Jian agreed.

Logically speaking, since Lin Sheng so desired to be a soldier, now that his wish was fulfilled, he should have been very happy!

And he should have participated in training even more seriously and diligently, instead of showing the restless state of mind he did today.

Qin Jian saw evasion and concealment in his eyes.

He even somewhat recalled the situation at Mu Mian’s house, where they kept stammering, unwilling to speak.

Intuition told him that Lin Sheng’s heart must be burdened with not a few things.

However, Qin Jian was unclear about who these personal issues concerned.

Regardless of who these personal matters were related to, since Lin Sheng had joined their unit, Qin Jian would take responsibility for Lin Sheng’s life.

He absolutely would not allow him to just waste his days here!

”After what you’ve said, I indeed also feel this kid seems somewhat different,” Zhao Dong reflected aloud.

He always seemed a bit absent-minded!

The state Lin Sheng was showing now was utterly different from the one when they had met him in Dongshan Village before.

But Zhao Dong did not know where the problem lay.
