Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1660: Chapter 1660: Do Not Let Down His Hopes

”No, it’s nothing.” Lin Sheng hesitated and stuttered.

Zhao Dong felt something was off and asked him, ”Are you hiding something from me? Or are you troubled by something?”

”It’s nothing. I...” Lin Sheng vigorously scratched his head, helplessly said, ”Since you don’t approve the leave, then forget it. I’m going back!”

After saying that, Lin Sheng turned around and was about to leave.

”Wait!” Zhao Dong grabbed the sleeve of Lin Sheng’s military uniform, ”Tell me the truth, what do you want to go out for?”

”I... I just miss my partner—Mu Mian.” Lin Sheng said embarrassingly.

”Damn! You’ve just been in the military camp for a few days? And you’re already missing a woman? If you can’t put aside thoughts of women, why did you even join the army? Not to mention anyone else, just look at our battalion commander. He got married only a few days before an order came from above to reorganize, and he resolutely packed up and went to the Northwest. He can see his wife only once or twice a year!” Zhao Dong’s mouth fired away like a machine gun.

”I, I understand. I will be careful in the future.” Lin Sheng bowed his head, not daring to meet Zhao Dong’s eyes.

”Good. Then you better work hard. Go on!” Zhao Dong waved his hand, signifying he could leave now.

However, just as Lin Sheng had taken a few steps, he was stopped by Zhao Dong again: ”Wait!”

Lin Sheng turned around, looking at Zhao Dong, ”Company commander, do you have something else?”

”Last night was an exception! In the future, you must follow the regulations of the troops. I let you off the hook yesterday, but it won’t happen again! You better remember, next time you apply for leave, you do it by the book!”

”Yes!”

”And one more thing! I don’t care about other things, but since you’re here with me, you need to give your best! If you continue to be absent-minded like today, beware I train you hard! Since you idolize the battalion commander, you need to make him proud and honored for you! If you ever disappoint him, just coming to the camp to kill time. I tell you, I will be the first to kick you out! Did you hear that!” Zhao Dong roared loudly.

”Yes!”

”I can’t hear you! Shout it out!”

”YES—!” Lin Sheng shouted loudly, his voice robust and firm.

Lin Qiushu made a phone call to the Ning Family and informed them about this matter.

She said that the woman in this photo looks exactly like her grandmother when she was young, and the woman in the photo should be the long-lost older sister of her grandmother.

Zhang Yun was very puzzled, if it was her elder sister then why the different name?

Lin Qiushu also worried about a potential mix-up, so she encouraged Zhang Yun to search and see if her mother left anything behind when she passed away?

It has been almost half a century since her mother’s death.

Shortly after her mother died, she moved with her father, and after her father passed away too, she wasn’t young anymore, so she joined the military.

Anything from the past that could have been lost was lost, what else could be left?

Listening to Zhang Yun recounting these matters, Ning Yibin told Zhang Yun, ”I remember when I met you, you were arguing with your leader. Your leader was telling you to obey the military regulations, to take off the double rings on your ears. You said those were keepsakes from your mother... and from then on, I never saw you wear them again...”

”Oh! You’re right! Now I remember.” A flash of light crossed Zhang Yun’s mind, and she suddenly remembered; she hurriedly went to find things sealed in her house’s attic.
