Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1661: Chapter 1661: Relics

Indeed, the keepsakes of the mother and Ning Bo’s childhood clothes and toys were all sealed together.

After Ning Bo died that year, her heart also died along with him.

Life became devoid of interest, and her fragile and sensitive nerves could not withstand any more blows. At that time, Ning Yibin suggested that she should burn the child’s things.

But Zhang Yun couldn’t bear to do so.

Thus, everything related to Ning Bo was altogether preserved and stored away here.

At the same time, the mother’s keepsakes were sealed up along with these items.

After finding the items, Zhang Yun cleaned them, then wrapped them in a red velvet cloth, and put them back into the jewelry box before taking them to the hospital.

In the hospital’s sickbed, the elderly lady quietly lay listening to Lin Qiushu talking about the Ning Family.

“Aunt Zhang was a very nice person. I really liked her! Moreover, she bore a resemblance to my mother! So, seeing her makes me instinctively want to get closer to her,” Lin Qiushu said.

“Hearing you say this makes me very happy! Although sister suffered a lot and passed away early, the daughter she left behind was able to grow up very healthy and even married a good man, I am very glad!”

“Yes. Grandma, she said she would come to see you today. I think it’s almost time, shall we sit you up and I’ll fix your hair?”

“Good. Good!”

When Zhang Yun arrived, Lin Qiushu was combing her grandmother’s hair.

When Zhang Yun saw the old but remarkably similar face of her own mother on the elderly woman, Zhang Yun’s heart also involuntarily trembled.

“Aunt Zhang! You’re here!” Lin Qiushu, hearing the footsteps at the door, turned around just to see Zhang Yun carrying fruits and flowers.

“Qiushu is really a filial and good girl!” Zhang Yun praised Lin Qiushu with a smile and placed the fruits on the small bedside cabinet.

Lin Qiushu took the flowers and put them in the vase on the bedside: “Grandma, this is Aunt Zhang whom I often mention to you.”

After she finished speaking, hearing no response, she turned around and saw her grandmother’s eyes fixedly staring at Zhang Yun, then slowly, her murky eyes started to trickle with tears.

“Grandma…”

“You really resemble my daughter!” the elderly woman said, “No matter if you say your mother’s name was Xiao Baozhu or not, my intuition tells me that you are my sister’s daughter.”

Zhang Yun also felt that the elderly woman bore a striking resemblance to her mother who had passed away many years ago.

But, her mother died young, and while she was still young, now this face, covered with wrinkles, had some resemblance to that face.

Zhang Yun couldn’t be certain of the relationship between them.

“Aunt, these are the keepsakes my mother left me! In my memory, she was always wearing these earrings. I vaguely remember, she told me to never lose them in my lifetime,” Zhang Yun said as she opened the jewelry box she brought.

After slowly unveiling the red velvet cloth, a pair of small golden earrings appeared. She handed them, along with the red velvet ribbon, to the elderly woman.

However, unexpectedly, the elderly woman did not reach out to take them.

Instead, she shakily reached up to lift her hair behind her ears where a pair of identical golden earrings hung.

She took the earrings off, revealing faint scratches on them.
