Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1691: Chapter 1691: Who Sent the Gift

”You’re absolutely right,” said Boss Hou, patting his own head, ”I don’t understand this stuff, I just think it’s thrilling to toss a bomb and fire off artillery shells with a bang bang.”

”What kind of logic is that? If this were war, wouldn’t the people suffer?” Guan Qing didn’t like to hear this, ”And you actually enjoy watching this excitement? Do you have any sense of patriotism at all?”

”Alright, my mouth is just stinky,” Boss Hou raised his hand and slapped himself on the face twice, ”Of course I’m patriotic. I’m not well-educated, but sometimes I like to pretend to be cultured. I spoke wrong, don’t take it to heart, alright?”

As it approached noon, Lin Qiushu was still busy downstairs.

Upstairs, they had already begun to serve the dishes.

Her family made the old lady laugh and smile.

Especially this adorable little bundle, who was cherished by the old lady enormously.

While amusing the child, she said to Zhang Yun, ”If your mom were still alive, she’d be so happy to see this, wouldn’t she?”

”Yes, it’s a pity. But thankfully Auntie, you’re still here, when Qiushu gets married someday, you’ll get to see your great-grandchildren,” said Zhang Yun.

”My sister was a beauty with a short life,” said the old lady as she played with the toy to entertain the child.

But the little bundle was not paying any attention to the old lady, completely absorbed in his own world.

”I tell you, this little treasure is really not ordinary,” Mrs. Xiao laughed, ”Just look at them, acting like little adults at such a young age. High IQ, they’ll mature early.”

”Geniuses are always extraordinary,” said Lin Qiushu’s mother.

”They’re just ordinary people. What geniuses?” An Hao looked at the two children with eyes full of love, ”I don’t have particularly high hopes for them, all I want is for the children to grow up healthy and that’s enough!”

Zhang Yun nodded in agreement.

”A true man should strive to distinguish himself wherever he can, now that he’s come into this world, he cannot waste the journey! He should still achieve something remarkable,” Qin Jian thought his wife and mother’s attitudes were a bit too simplistic.

An Hao smiled and said nothing, recognizing that people of her generation all harbored the hope that their sons would become dragons and their daughters phoenixes.

Qin Jian was no exception, hoping his son could achieve even greater things than he did.

As a mother, An Hao was more concerned about her children’s safety and health.

”Impressive!” Lin Qiushu’s mother gave Qin Jian a thumbs up.

Meanwhile, it had reached noon, and the dishes were all on the table.

Lin Qiushu made time to join everyone for a meal, and the atmosphere at the dining table was harmonious and joyful.

Mrs. Xiao was so happy she could hardly close her mouth.

While the family was laughing and talking, the servers came in.

They were carrying a large box between them, which turned out to be a birthday cake, decorated with a bunch of purple carnations on top.

”Oh my, who could this be from, to be so creative?” exclaimed Zhang Yun, pleasantly surprised.

Her mind immediately went to Yan Ye.

”Who else could it be but Teacher Yan,” An Hao said with a chuckle, looking at Lin Qiushu, ”You’re really lucky to have found such a romantic man.”

Mrs. Xiao couldn’t stop praising him: ”This kid is so thoughtful! Both romantic and sensible.”

”Romantic? On our first date, he took me to the morgue to watch him dissect a body for a long time. I came back and threw up for three whole days, unable to eat a thing,” she recalled with a touch of lingering complaint.

The whole room burst into laughter at her words.

”Sorry, the cake wasn’t sent by Mr. Yan...” the server said.
