Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1649: Chapter 1649: There’s a Small Problem

”But it’s all right now. While I’m still alive and my old bones are still strong, I can spend some time with my sister,” the elder murmured.

Lin Qiushu felt a sourness in her nose, almost shedding tears: ”Auntie Grandma, she... she’s long gone...”

”What?” The elder’s heart quivered, and a flash of desolation swept across her eyes, but she quickly regained composure. ”You’re right! If she were still alive, how could you be holding an old photograph of her? She must have been very young when she passed, right?”

”Yes. She passed away not many years after giving birth. And then, not long after, the man in the photograph also died. Only the child was left...”

”Then this child... she must still be alive, right?” the elder asked.

”Alive, and living well. She is An Hao Granny, the wife of Ning Commander—Zhang Yun!” Lin Qiushu stated each word clearly.

”Thank heaven, thank the gods! Destiny has eyes after all! I’ve finally found my long-lost relative!” The elder was extremely excited, grabbing onto Qiushu’s hand, ”I want to be discharged from the hospital. Take me to the military compound, I want to meet this niece of mine! I want to see her!”

”Grandma, please calm down! I know you are eager to see your family, but you need to take a moment. Right now, there’s a little issue. We need to clear up this issue thoroughly before proceeding,” Lin Qiushu hurriedly restrained her.

”An issue? What issue?” the elder asked anxiously, ”Just spill it all out. Don’t worry about whether I can handle it, I feel like my heart is quite strong right now, it could hold up for another five years with no problem.”

”The other day I asked Mrs. Zhang what her mother’s name was. She told me her surname was Zhao, called Zhao Dani, not Xiao Baozhu at all!”

”Impossible.” The elder said with certainty, ”This face is distinctly the face of my sister, this is something I cannot mistake. I refuse to believe that, with the exception of twins, there could be such a coincidence where another woman with a similar appearance exists in this world!”

”But how do you explain the discrepancy in names? Surely Mrs. Zhang couldn’t forget her mother’s name, could she?” Lin Qiushu questioned.

”Tell me, what’s easier? Changing a name or changing a face?” the elder did not answer her question but posed one to her instead.

”Of course, changing a name is easier. You can just go to the police station to make the change.” Even in the past, changing a name was a matter of word of mouth, not requiring official police station registration.

”Grandma, to be cautious, I think you should meet the Ning Family before anything else,” Qiushu suggested.

”Fine. Then I want to be discharged now! Let’s go this very moment!” the elder was very impatient, feeling unable to wait even a minute longer.

”That won’t do. Grandma, this is a hospital, you must follow the doctor’s orders. If the doctor says you can be discharged, only then can I take you. If the doctor says no, then you must stay here and recover properly until the doctor agrees to your discharge,” Lin Qiushu’s attitude was also resolute.

”Then what are you waiting for? Hurry up!”

”Grandma, you really are... you’re so impatient.” Lin Qiushu, understanding her feelings, stood up and left the ward to find Yan Ye in the director’s office.

Knock knock knock~ Three rhythmic knocks sounded at the door.

Yan Ye, who was standing in front of a bookshelf looking through materials, heard the noise and raised his head to call toward the doorway: ”Come in!”
