Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1643: Chapter 1643: Please Keep It a Secret for Us

”Comrade Lieutenant Colonel, was this shot fired by you?” The squadron leader squatted beside Wang Jiu, carefully examining his wound. The shot was dead center in the forehead without any deviation.

”Yes!” Qin Jian replied.

”Wow, what an incredibly lifelike shot!” Xiaoliang, who was following the squadron leader, couldn’t help but raise his thumb in admiration upon seeing Wang Jiu’s dead state.

”Respect!” The squadron leader clasped his hands and bowed to Qin Jian.

”Pfft! You guys don’t realize who you’re dealing with here. Our regiment commander! His shot was lifelike indeed. If you gave him a sniper rifle, he could take out the world’s top snipers.” Zhao Dong swaggered over with pride written all over his face, as if the person being praised was himself.

”We didn’t know much about the Lieutenant Colonel before! Now that we’ve witnessed it, truly impressive! Indeed, those with excellent marksmanship love a headshot in one go!” Xiaoliang said.

”That was a special case,” Qin Jian remarked indifferently, looking at Wang Jiu lying dead on the ground, ”At that moment, his bullet was already chambered, the muzzle directly aimed at Qiushu’s temple, and he kept his entire body hidden behind Lin Qiushu unwilling to expose himself. Left with no choice, I struck a deal with him, buying three seconds of time.”

”Three seconds? A headshot in one shot?” Xiaoliang was stunned.

He could hardly imagine how accurate the shooting must be, to fire a bullet in an instant and to hit directly in the forehead.

”Indeed, it was no easy feat!” The squadron leader exclaimed, ”True skill comes with great courage!”

How many could really take such a shot under these conditions?

Some might prefer to let the criminal and hostage go, then look for the right opportunity to attempt a rescue, rather than taking a shot within three seconds like this. What if the shot missed the criminal and hit the hostage instead? What then?

Moreover, to hit right in the center of the forehead.

They all knew very clearly that even if the heart was hit, a person wouldn’t die immediately, lingering for twenty-odd seconds.

If the criminal collapsed at that moment, there was a complete chance they could pull the trigger, possibly injuring or even gravely wounding the hostage.

To avoid such an outcome, the best case scenario was to cause immediate death to the criminal, rendering them completely incapable of action. To achieve that, one would have to shoot in the forehead.

This spot, after penetration by the bullet, reaches the brain’s central nervous system. If the central nerve of the brain is destroyed, a person would instantly lose the ability to move.

And this location is relatively weaker, a preferred target area for snipers.

”You’re just realizing this?” Zhao Dong said with a face full of pride, ”Our regiment commander is elite among elites. You probably don’t know, but last year, the Guangzhou special forces were all eyeing our regiment commander...”

”Enough. What’s with all this nonsense! Our mission is complete, let’s pull out!” Qin Jian cut off Zhao Dong’s speech, signaling him to leave.

”Yes, sir!” Zhao Dong replied, standing at attention.

Qin Jian stepped forward and extended his hand to the squadron leader: ”It was a pleasure working with you this time! I hope you can maintain secrecy for me and Zhao Dong!”

The squadron leader grasped Qin Jian’s hand without hesitation: ”Pleasure to collaborate! However, keeping it a secret might be somewhat difficult.”

”Hey, squadron leader! Aren’t you being a bit insincere here? We asked you to keep a secret, and you can’t even do that? Do you want to see us get into trouble? Get punished?” Zhao Dong said.
