Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1646: Chapter 1646: A Big Thank You Gift to Come

“Grandma! Yan Ye!” Lin Qiushu called out.

The two people who were talking were stunned at the same time. They had not expected Lin Qiushu to appear before them in such a state.

She was neatly dressed, with a smile on her face, as if her disappearance these past few days had been merely a trip away from home.

“Qiushu…” Grandma murmured her name, and tears of joy began streaming down her cheeks.

Lin Qiushu smiled, though her eyes were also red. She did not approach, but gently hugged Grandma, softly comforting her: “Grandma, don’t cry! Haven’t I come back? I’m fine, not a single problem! Don’t worry!”

The elderly lady hugged Lin Qiushu and cried for a while, then gradually stopped sobbing: “Did that criminal give you any trouble? Are you hurt?”

“No.” Lin Qiushu shook her head and smiled, “I’m completely fine. That criminal only wanted money, he kidnapped me but didn’t dare to write home for ransom. In the end, he just sold my car. Who knew, during their transaction, Commander Qin and his men arrived and rescued me in an instant.”

“That’s truly a blessing from the heavens!” The old lady brought her palms together in front of her chest, continuously chanting several ‘Amitabha.’

“It’s you who I’ve been worried about! Hearing that you’ve been hospitalized made my heart feel scorched by fire. I rushed over as soon as I got home, and seeing that you’re alright, it’s like a weight has been lifted from my heart,” Lin Qiushu said, relieved.

“These past few days without you, I really owe a lot to Director Yan’s care!” The elderly woman gently grasped Yan Ye’s hand, “Thank you so much! Dr. Yan, if it weren’t for you, I probably couldn’t have made it through these days.”

“I’m a doctor. It’s my duty! Please, there’s no need for courtesy,” Yan Ye spoke, his previously furrowed brows now relaxed, and a smile graced his lips.

“Good! Good!” The old lady was shrewd, seeing the situation she understood quite a bit, so she smiled and said to Lin Qiushu, “One must know how to be grateful. Dr. Yan has taken such good care of me, and these past few days, he’s been on night shifts staying with me… I’m very grateful, so please take Dr. Yan out for a meal at noon today! We can’t let him care for me in vain.”

Lin Qiushu glanced shyly at Yan Ye and whispered to Grandma: “That’s not necessary. I will give him a big thank-you gift in the future!”

“How will you thank me?” Yan Ye looked at Lin Qiushu, his eyes brimming with emotion.

“You’ll know when the time comes.” Lin Qiushu smiled back at him, “Don’t worry, I, Lin Qiushu, am not ungenerous. I definitely won’t let you lose out.”

“Good. Then I’ll wait for your big gift,” Yan Ye’s brows lit up with a smile.

“Mhm.”

“So… do you have time right now? Shall we talk about the upcoming surgery for Grandma?” Yan Ye said.

“What? Surgery?” Lin Qiushu was startled, “Has it come to the point that a surgery is needed?”

“No! I absolutely cannot have surgery now. If I don’t make it off the operating table, my… my lifelong wish will never be fulfilled,” the old lady firmly refused the surgery.

“But, your health can’t be put off any longer.” This was already the limit.

Without surgery, it would be a slow wait for death.

If surgery were performed, it could be fatal, but there might also be a chance for a few more years of hope.
