Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1644: Chapter 1644: The Renowned Flower Is Taken

”No! That’s absolutely not what I meant!” the battalion commander waved his hands frantically, ”You helped us and accomplished a great feat, we originally wanted to cover this up for you! But the thing is, we can’t keep it a secret!”

After saying this, he pointed at Wang Jiu, who was lying on the ground.

”What? Is there something special about him?” Zhao Dong didn’t understand at first.

”It’s not that he’s special! It’s that the wound on his head is special! None of us could have made a shot right between the eyebrows like this! The higher-ups aren’t fools, they will definitely ask questions!” the battalion commander said with a bitter smile.

”You just say you made the shot. That’s final. It’s getting late, we should leave,” Qin Jian said, taking off his coat and draping it over Lin Qiushu, who was shivering next to him.

Then, he turned to leave.

”Lieutenant Colonel, you must be joking,” the battalion commander said.

”I’m not. Just say that!”

”I...” the battalion commander shook his head with a wry smile, ”I can only say I’ll try my best!”

.....................

The night had grown deep. Qin Jian wanted to take Lin Qiushu back home, but she insisted on staying out for the night to clean herself up properly and adjust her state before seeing her grandmother.

After all, her grandmother was of advanced age.

If she went back looking like this, she was afraid it might scare her grandmother into something serious.

”Your grandmother is in the affiliated hospital. I suggest you go straight home, freshen up, and then head directly to the hospital!” Qin Jian said.

”What? My grandmother’s hospitalized? Is it serious?” Lin Qiushu’s heart thudded violently for a moment.

”I can only say it’s not too bad. For the specifics, you should ask Yan Ye. He’s been on night shift at the hospital these past few days.”

”Then... alright, I’ll head back first,” Lin Qiushu nodded.

”Right, you haven’t thrown away that photo, have you?” Qin Jian asked casually.

”No. I’ve been keeping it safely with me!” Lin Qiushu reached out to feel her pocket, the photo was still there.

”If there’s any news, you should let us know as soon as possible, everyone is waiting,” Qin Jian reminded.

”Understood.”

Qin Jian accompanied her all the way to Lin Mansion, looked up at the sky; the night was profound.

”It’s three in the morning. The darkest hour is just before the dawn,” Zhao Dong broke the silence.

”Why are you still here?” Qin Jian, having settled everything, finally remembered that Zhao Dong hadn’t returned to his troop yet.

”Heh heh... I was just seeing off the person with you!” Zhao Dong grinned, revealing his white teeth.

”Shouldn’t you be taking advantage of the darkest hour before dawn to sneak back to the troop?” said Qin Jian, glancing at him, ”Go on! Get back quickly!”

”Alright, alright! I’m heading back. But...” Zhao Dong hesitated as he spoke, ”That girl just now, could you introduce me? I mean, I’m not getting any younger...”

Before Zhao Dong could finish, Qin Jian looked at him with sympathy: ”Sorry! She’s already taken! You better cool off wherever is cool, pal!”

”Commander!!! Do you have to be like this? Don’t you care about your subordinate’s love life at all!” Zhao Dong complained.

”Hmm. Well, how about Xiaozhao from the sanitation squad...”

”Stop right there! You might as well set me up with the old sow from the cooking squad! I’d never take her!” The thing was, just because she fancied him, to increase the chances of interaction, she gave him medicine for six days when it should’ve only been for three.

Three days’ worth of medicine, three days of glucose!
