Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1648: Chapter 1648: It’s her! It’s her!

”How did Commander Qin rescue you?” the elder asked persistently.

However, the mere thought of what had actually happened made Lin Qiushu very nervous, so she didn’t plan to tell her grandmother the specifics. She omitted the details and merely shared the outcome: ”Wang Jiu is dead! Shot and killed by Commander Qin.”

”What? It got to the point of shooting, and you’re saying it’s not serious?” The old woman’s heart clenched upon hearing this.

”But the reason Wang Jiu was shot was not because he did something to me, but because he was involved in a drug trafficking operation. I heard from Commander Qin that even a tiny amount of drugs could warrant the death penalty. Not to mention, Wang Jiu was dealing with more than two kilograms of drugs in the trafficking operation...” Lin Qiushu explained to her grandmother.

It was precisely for this reason that Qin Jian shot and killed him directly.

After listening, the elder breathed a sigh of relief: ”That should nip the problem in the bud. As long as you are alright, everything is fine! This friend of yours was indeed worth making!”

”Grandma, don’t speak of friends. I’m telling you, they’re probably not just friends, but relatives!” said Lin Qiushu.

”Relatives?”

”Yes, relatives.” As Lin Qiushu spoke, she took out a photograph from her bag, ”I’ve brought something for you. I believe that after you see it, you will be able to confirm our relationship with the Ning Family.”

”Oh? How does this relate to the Ning Family?”

”You will know once you look at it.” Lin Qiushu carefully took out the photograph from her bag and placed it in the old woman’s hands, ”Grandma, do you recognize the woman in the photograph?”

The old woman took it and, when her gaze fell on the photo, was instantly stunned.

Her eyes were firmly fixed on the woman in the photo, not moving in the slightest. It took a long while for her to regain her composure.

Then, tears streamed down her face.

Although she didn’t utter a word, Lin Qiushu understood very well.

The person in the photo was none other than her grandmother’s twin sister, the relative who had been lost for more than half a century, her grandaunt Xiao Baozhu.

”Grandma, is it her?” Although she already knew, Lin Qiushu asked for confirmation.

”It’s her! Without a doubt! That’s my twin sister! She looked just like me when I was young!” The old woman finished speaking, her chest soaked with tears.

Lin Qiushu saw this but did not dissuade her grandmother from crying.

Let her have this cry! A good, hearty cry! These were tears of joy!

The old woman cried for a long time before gradually stopping and asking, ”This is her husband, right? And this child is her child?”

”Yes.” Lin Qiushu nodded, ”This is a family portrait of their family of three.”

”My sister wasn’t happy.” The elder’s frail and withered fingers caressed the old black-and-white photo, ”Look at her eyes, filled with nothing but sorrow. Neither her husband nor her child could bring her joy.”

”Yes. Auntie Grandmother must have always had something weighing on her mind, right? I think anyone who has experienced so much would not be happy. It’s not only her; you also haven’t had much happiness, Grandma. Look, over all these years, you’ve rarely shown a smiling face,” Lin Qiushu said with sympathy, looking at her grandmother.
