Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1624: Chapter 1624: A Photo Album

”Really? An Hao?” Zhang Yun turned and asked An Hao.

An Hao smiled and shook her head: ”I haven’t seen it. You two keep talking! I think your conversation is getting very heated...”

”Don’t be jealous, okay?” Lin Qiushu said with a laugh.

”No way. I’m too happy to be. You continue chatting, I’ll go boil some water, let’s drink a few more cups of tea.” An Hao got up and went to the kitchen to boil water.

Zhang Yun and Lin Qiushu continued on this topic.

”By the way, let me get the photo album for you! See if I’ve changed a lot from when I was young to now?”

”That would be great! I love looking through photo albums, seeing those old and yellowed photos, it gives one a feeling of traveling through time.”

Zhang Yun went to get the photo album and Lin Qiushu took the opportunity to lean in closer.

Upon opening the album, Lin Qiushu, with her sharp eyes, immediately spotted a photo of Zhang Yun from her youth.

This was a group photo with several people, taken shortly after they had gotten a camera. It was a group photo of comrades in the military camp. In it, she wore a military uniform, braided her hair in plaits, and stood among the crowd.

Everyone’s attire was so similar, even the expressions were nearly the same, but even so, Lin Qiushu recognized Zhang Yun from the group at a glance.

This made Zhang Yun very happy.

”You really have a good eye. I can’t even compete! Young people really do have sharp vision!”

”No, it’s not just that.” Lin Qiushu halted her finger on Zhang Yun’s photo and pointed, saying, ”Your eyes and eyebrows when you were young really resemble my mother’s a lot. If you don’t believe me, I’ll bring over my mother’s photos for you to see as well.”

”Is there such a coincidence?”

”Do you think this is fate?”

”Mhm, it really is! Later on, call your mom over too. Let’s sit down together, chat, and who knows, maybe your mom and I could be long-lost sisters.” Zhang Yun half-jokingly said.

They say a casual remark may hold significance for the listener.

Zhang Yun had said it offhand, but Lin Qiushu took it seriously.

A thought flashed through her mind, and she suddenly remembered something about Zhang Yun talking about her mother: ”Auntie, I remember you told me that your mother really liked a bracelet... Does that bracelet really resemble mine so closely?”

”Yes.” While flipping through the album, Zhang Yun reminisced about those yellowing years, ”She really liked bracelets! Especially those of solid green, she was truly fond of them. On her sickbed, on the brink of death, she was still caressing the bracelet...”

”Why do you think she was so reluctant to part with that bracelet?”

”I don’t know. She was always reluctant to talk about it. My father wasn’t at peace either, he always suspected that she had someone in her heart...”

”Perhaps she didn’t speak of it because the past was too hard to mention? Or maybe the past was too sad? Since your mother was a sentimental person, it’s very likely that might be the reason!” Lin Qiushu analyzed.

”I don’t know! I was young at that time; I’m not sure what my mother had in mind, and now, even though I’ve learned to guess what’s on your mind, the past has become blurry, and I cannot recall it that clearly.” After Zhang Yun finished, she noticed a subtle change in Lin Qiushu’s expression, ”Qiushu, what’s wrong?”

”Auntie, do you have a photo of your mother in your album?” Lin Qiushu asked intently, gazing straight at her.
