Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1625: Chapter 1625: Yellowed Photo

”There is one. It’s just a very old photograph,” Zhang Yun started to look through the album, and on the last page, she carefully took out the long-preserved photo, ”This is the one. This is the only photo I have, and the only one my parents left behind.”

Lin Qiushu took the photograph and scrutinized it carefully.

The woman in the photo wore simple attire and sported a hairstyle from the Republican era. Despite that, her exceptional temperament could not be hidden.

The man looked like a farmer, the honest and straightforward type. This was probably his first time taking a photograph; his hands and feet appeared somewhat awkward and his gaze lacked natural ease.

In between these two people sat a little girl with big eyes and a mischievous expression, clearly inheriting her mother’s good looks.

”This woman is my mother,” Zhang Yun said, pointing at the woman.

Qiushu looked intently, comparing the woman’s features with her grandmother’s in her mind. However, the face of youth and the face of old age made it impossible for Qiushu to draw an accurate comparison.

Her grandmother had once shown her pictures of her and her sister, carefree and cheery, but those were seen only a few times, more reflective of their girlhood. Now the woman in the photo had clearly become a young wife, with features that had also changed somewhat.

”How about it? Is it?” Zhang Yun understood what Qiushu was comparing.

”Auntie, I feel like it might be. But I’m not sure. I’ve seen a photo of my grandmother and her sister together before, and I have some vague impressions in my head. I won’t be able to tell without comparing it to the photo...” Lin Qiushu said.

”Alright. You take the photo with you then. And let us know once you have a result!” Zhang Yun said.

”Thank you so much, auntie,” Lin Qiushu was incredibly excited, wrapping the photo carefully in paper and placing it in her bag.

She had actually planned to rest for the afternoon, have a nice tea with An Hao, chat, and relax, but she didn’t expect to make such an unforeseen discovery.

One can only imagine the feelings of finally finding a lost relative after half a century and half the globe.

She was so excited already, what about her grandmother?

She was looking forward to this news more than anyone else.

So, Qiushu decided to take her leave, ”Auntie, An Hao, I think I should go back now, let my grandmother have a look and see if your mother is my long-lost aunt?”

”Sure! Yes, hurry back! This is important. If it turns out to be true, we will have a blood connection; we’ll really be bona fide relatives,” Zhang Yun said.

”Go ahead. Let the old lady have a look too. And be careful, try not to overexcite her!” An Hao finished speaking and winked, ”Do you want to get in touch with Dr. Yan, so he can accompany you? If something happens to her, he can help! He’s Nancheng’s best cardiothoracic surgeon.”

”I think I’ll pass! It’ll be even more of a stir if he goes! One thing alone is too much for my grandmother to handle, let alone two?” Lin Qiushu laughed.

”Alright then. Head back early, and be sure to let us know if there’s good news!”

”You can count on that!”

Qiushu said goodbye to An Hao, who escorted her to the gate of the military compound.
