Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1635: Chapter 1635: Self-Rescue

She told Wang Jiu that her car was quite valuable, and suggested that he could sell it first.

That would be a considerable income.

And it was an income he could get his hands on right now.

After thinking it over, Wang Jiu felt that it made a lot of sense and he was tempted.

Taking advantage of his interest, Lin Qiushu promptly told him that she would be willing to cover his expenses for the rest of his life if he didn’t harm her.

Wang Jiu was no fool.

He was obviously aware of the huge risk of exposure, so these past days, he hadn’t touched Lin Qiushu. Instead, he was racking his brains for a good way to retrieve the 200,000 yuan from her home without revealing his whereabouts.

In that case, once he got the money, he could take it and move to another city, change his environment, and even live under a new identity.

The noise outside quieted down, and Wang Jiu turned and came back.

He took out two white buns from his backpack and tossed them to Lin Qiushu like feeding a dog, then loosened the rope on her hands: ”Eat.”

Starving, Lin Qiushu grabbed the buns and stuffed them into her mouth: ”Did you sell the sedan?”

”Sold it.” Clearly, Wang Jiu was in a good mood today, ”Your car was worth some money.”

”More than just some money. You sold it for too little.” Lin Qiushu shook her head helplessly.

”What can you do about it? Your car was given to me, now it’s mine! I can sell it however I want, that’s none of your business.” Wang Jiu glared at her and yelled.

”Fine. It’s none of my concern.” Lin Qiushu struggled to swallow the bun in her hand and then said to him, ”Aren’t you uncomfortable staying in this place? I can’t stand it anymore. I’ll give you money, any amount. But you have to figure out a way to get the money, right? It’s not a solution to keep dragging things out like this. The longer you delay, the greater the risk for you. I estimate if you keep dragging on, the police will find you. You should hurry up and think of a way to get the money from my house.”

Wang Jiu stopped gnawing on the chicken leg, thought for a while, and said, ”I want to. But the police are always looking for me outside. Do you think I can make it out? Going to your house now to send a message is simply seeking death, isn’t it?”

”Then you can find someone to send the message for you!” Lin Qiushu proposed a solution, ”Find a reliable person who is not under the police’s radar.”

Wang Jiu’s eyes rolled around, and he thought, ”Good, I can find someone to send a message! Can you guarantee that your family will give me the money?”

”Of course.” Lin Qiushu took off one of her earrings and handed it to Wang Jiu, ”Just pass this on along with the letter.”

”Good. That’s settled then.” Wang Jiu agreed.

Qin Jian stood upstairs, looking down at the training ground, where a group of warriors was scrambling in the mud.

The reconnaissance company commander Zhao Dong, dressed in a training uniform, ran over puffing and panting, stood at attention, and saluted him: ”Commander, you were looking for me?”

”Any progress on the matter?” Qin Jian turned around and asked.

”There has been an unexpected discovery. But...” Zhao Dong said with some difficulty, ”as you know, without orders from higher-ups, our military unit cannot participate in local operations. We went to investigate in secret last night, and after an entire evening, guess what we found?”
