Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1417: Chapter 1417: Full Moon Wine

The banquet was for his old military comrades, Qin Jian’s friends, and An Hao’s friends.

Being in a high position, there certainly wasn’t a lack of people showing up to support.

But Ning Yibin still adhered to the principle of thrift and managed to cut down the feast to just over a dozen tables.

Those who wanted to give gifts were all refused, however, on the flip side, he instructed that the house be prepared with some sunflower seeds and sugar cubes, which were given to everyone.

This made the warriors under his command deeply admire the Commander’s character.

Ning Yibin couldn’t drink alcohol. As the son of Commander Ning and the father of two little treasures, Qin Jian inevitably couldn’t escape his duty today.

After making the rounds of these dozen or so tables, he was nearly drunk.

Come evening, the warriors from the regiment were all rebelling.

Qin Jian was strict with his subordinates when needed but was always generous when the time came.

Since it was the child’s first month celebration and a joyous occasion, he just let them be.

Especially those company commanders, who could drink more than the next, all charged up and determined to outdrink him.

Tian Niu, seeing that Qin Jian had quite a bit to drink, stood up, puffed out his chest with a slap, and said, ”Alright, come at me! The Commander is almost drunk, so I’ll drink with you guys!”

”Fine by me, no problem,” one company commander, already high-spirited, stepped on a stool with a bottle of white liquor in hand, and shouted, ”Let’s do it. Drinking by glasses isn’t satisfying enough, let’s drink straight from the bottle!”

”Let’s go!” Tian Niu was also straightforward.

”Are you guys really just going to drink like that? Shouldn’t you find an excuse?” shouted the third platoon leader.

”Someone... you’re actually right. Our company commander here is getting married next month, that’s a big happy event, right? Bringing home a beautiful wife, pressing her into a warm bed, in less than a year he’ll get a fat baby boy. Life couldn’t be more divine!” the first company commander shouted, ”Come on, let’s drink to our Tian company commander’s divine life!”

”Bottoms up!”

And amidst the roaring crowd, Tian Niu and the company commander gulped down a whole bottle of white liquor.

The company commander was truly impressed, giving Tian Niu and Qin Jian a thumbs-up: ”Respect!”

He barely got two words out before toppling to the ground unconscious.

...

The clock on the wall pointed to nine, and Qin Jian still hadn’t returned.

An Hao sat in the house alone looking at the children, playfully entertaining them with a smile: ”Your stinky dad today really went wild with the drink, not even looking at the time, not yet home...”

After An Hao finished speaking, the two little ones burst into a fit of giggles.

”Eh? Do you understand? Mommy’s talking bad about daddy, and you know it too,” An Hao smiled, looking at her children and asked.

The two little ones stared at her with their cute, wide eyes.

”When stinky dad gets home, you two need to give him a good telling-off, got it?” An Hao added.

The two little ones responded again with giggles.

An Hao suddenly realized the kids might find the words ”stinky dad” strange and thus found it amusing.

So she tried saying a few more times: ”Stinky dad, stinky dad...”

Sure enough, both little ones showed joyful smiles on their faces.

An Hao was having a great time playing with the kids when Qin Jian entered the door, carrying the scent of alcohol with him.

Seeing such a heartwarming scene, his heart instantly filled with warmth.

He strode forward in a few big steps, scooped up An Hao, and seated her on his lap.

He buried his head in her neck, greedily inhaling her fragrance.
