Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1475: Chapter 1475: I Must Find Him

Even Gu Shuangshuang, in her simplest moments, had begun to have some premonitions.

”Do you really want to hear it? Are you sure you’re prepared?” An Hao had no intention of keeping the truth from Gu Shuangshuang, for the matter was bound to come out sooner or later.

She might as well tell her now.

As Tian Niu’s wife, even if Tian Niu had died, she deserved to know about it as soon as possible.

”Has something happened to Tian Niu?” Gu Shuangshuang realized, her smile slowly freezing on her face, ”An Hao, you’ve been beating around the bush for so long, are you trying to tell me, that Old Niu had an accident?”

”Yes,” An Hao nodded gravely, ”Shuangshuang, perhaps I shouldn’t be telling you this now. But if I don’t, someone else will someday. Qin Jian and Tian Niu both fell into a fissure created by the earthquake. Their fate is currently unknown.”

An Hao used the phrase ”fate is currently unknown.”

In her dream the night before, at the very last moment, she saw Qin Jian smiling with open arms towards her. Deep in her heart, she was convinced that Qin Jian wasn’t dead.

But then again, if he fell into that fissure and the earth closed over him, how could he possibly have survived and escaped?

The more An Hao thought about it, the more unlikely it seemed.

So, this dream that could always predict the future, An Hao found it a little hard to believe this time.

Moreover, the dream was just a series of fragments, who knew if that smile wasn’t Qin Jian’s last?

”What? Fate is currently unknown?” Gu Shuangshuang was stunned for a moment, then collapsed onto the bed, sobbing, ”You really screwed me over, Old Niu. Just one day after our marriage and you’ve left me and our unborn son behind. How am I supposed to live on? I hate you so much...”

An Hao wanted to cry out loud as well, but she knew she could not.

She told herself in her heart, she must not cry, whether the dream was true or not, she would set out tomorrow to search for Qin Jian in the disaster area.

”Shuangshuang, I’m going to Lai City tomorrow. Do you want to come with me?” An Hao helped her up and handed her a handkerchief, ”Right now, there’s no sign of them alive or dead! But, I have this intuition that tells me they are both still alive...”

Gu Shuangshuang wiped her tears and choked up in a low voice, ”Can I believe your intuition?”

”I don’t know,” An Hao clenched her fists tight, ”Whether or not my intuition is true, I have to find him.”

”I’ll go with you,” Gu Shuangshuang grasped An Hao’s hand, ”I’ll face it with you.”

...

The next day, An Hao got up early.

Anxious to get to the disaster zone as soon as possible, she had been unable to sleep.

Gu Shuangshuang, too, had spent a sleepless night.

Closing her eyes, she would see Tian Niu’s silly, smiling face.

”Wife, let me cherish you well...”

”Wife, I’ll work hard to get you pregnant soon. I want a cute little girl who resembles you, clinging to me all day calling me ’Daddy’.”

”Wife, rest assured that since I’ve married you, I will not let you suffer. I will do my best in the military, hoping for a chance to rise to battalion commander soon. Then, I can double my salary and buy you all the good food and drink, taking good care of you.”

Tears gently trailed down, soaking her pillowcase.

Gu Shuangshuang raised her hand to wipe the tears and sat up, ”An Hao, let’s set off early. I want to see the place where he fought as soon as possible.”
