Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1460: Chapter 1460: I Never Thought About It

”Don’t be afraid! Don’t be afraid! Uncle will definitely save you,” Qin Jian said while using all his strength to move the rocks.

The earthquake was severe, and Qin Jian staggered, unable to stand firm.

The rock on the boy’s leg shook, causing him to cry out in pain.

”Uncle, will my brother die? I’ve already lost my mom and dad, I can’t lose my brother too,” the little boy said, his body covered in scrapes, yet he wiped his tears and didn’t leave.

”Don’t worry. Your brother won’t die!” Qin Jian said through clenched teeth.

The ground shook violently, and a thunderous roar came from beneath, a crack opened right where Qin Jian was standing. Just as he was about to flee, he saw the ground slowly cracking under the feet of the two little boys.

His heart skipped a beat.

Without thinking too much, he quickly grabbed the little boy and threw him to the side.

Just then, Hen Zhiyuan arrived, caught the child in stride, and placed him on the ground, saying, ”Run fast! Go join the others.”

”I want to find my brother... my brother...”

”Still looking for your brother? If you keep looking, you won’t have a life left! Hurry up!”

”Uncle, you must save my brother! You must...”

”I got it, stop nagging, or your brother will die.”

”Wah...” The little boy cried and left.

Qin Jian encountered trouble. After throwing the boy, he stumbled, and his whole body fell into the crack.

His heart alarmed, he quickly grabbed the ground with his hands, his body hanging in the air.

Meanwhile, the boy with his leg trapped under the rock was in a fragile, shaking middle zone of the split earth. One more tremor, and he would definitely plummet into the abyss.

He seemed to realize his plight and burst into loud cries, ”Uncle, I don’t want to die, I don’t want to die!”

”Hold on. Uncle will save you.” Qin Jian clenched his teeth, gripped the ground tightly with both hands, and jumped back onto the surface.

He looked at the middle spot, beginning to worry.

”Captain, how can we save him?” Hen Zhiyuan, from nearby, saw clearly that the spot was beyond rescue, ”unless there’s a big ladder placed across this crack.”

But where to find a ladder?

Although the shaking had stopped, ladders were hard to find since the earthquake had destroyed everything. Where could they find such tools?

”Rope... go find a rope.”

”No need to look for one.” Hen Zhiyuan took off his jacket, revealing a long rope coiled around his waist.

”Tie a loop, and loop it around his waist,” Qin Jian instructed.

Hen Zhiyuan followed his instructions, tied the knot, and forcefully looped it around the boy’s body. He pulled the rope tight, securing the boy firmly.

”What next?” Hen Zhiyuan asked again.

The most pressing issue was now before them. Someone needed to jump over and move the rock, but if someone did, the spot would certainly collapse.

The child was secured with a safety rope, and with his weight, Hen Zhiyuan could definitely hold him.

But, what about the other person?

”I’ll jump over and break off the shaking middle part. When it collapses, you pull the child up.” Qin Jian had already eyed the spot and knew one kick would break it.

”What about you?” Hen Zhiyuan asked.

Qin Jian squinted at the spot where the child was and leapt over with a kick, ”I haven’t thought about that.”
