Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1458: Chapter 1458: Can That Thing Be Eaten as a Meal?

Reflecting on everything that happened this past year, it had truly been so.

Perhaps, those doctors were right in saying, Hen Zhiyuan’s family had a clash with Qin Jian’s family.

His entire family was completely dominated by Qin Jian’s family.

...............

For a whole month, earthquake rescue efforts had been carried out. The road blocked by debris had been completely cleared and opened. A steady stream of medicine and supplies were brought in.

Multiple searches had been conducted beneath the collapsed ruins.

Those who were alive had been rescued, while those who had perished were gone forever.

Various news outlets had also come in to report on the incident, and An Hao saw Qin Jian’s haggard and tired face on TV.

Although An Hao was terribly heartbroken, she was relieved to know that he was safe.

The work of rescuing the injured was nearly complete, and what followed would be the reconstruction after the disaster.

Division Commander Zhang Jianguo had personally visited the disaster area for an inspection.

Upon arriving at the heavily affected area, he walked around to assess the conditions, with Qin Jian, Hen Zhiyuan, and several battalion commanders accompanying him.

The group reached the foot of the mountain, where Zhang Jianguo stopped and said to Qin Jian, ”Reconstruction after the disaster is no small matter. You and another battalion commander must coordinate well.”

”I understand.”

”After a major disaster, there will likely be an outbreak of disease. The medical team’s timely involvement has been crucial, and their work has been impeccable.”

”Our goals are all aligned.”

Zhang Jianguo nodded and after looking around for a while, walked off with Qin Jian to a more distant spot, ”Qin Jian, you have been out here for quite some time. In a few days when reconstruction gets going, you should return for a visit. The commander misses you very much. Your sister-in-law went to see An Hao and the child. She said An Hao has lost quite a bit of weight, worrying for you every day.”

”Sure, I’ve been wanting to go back too.” Qin Jian chuckled and pulled out a photo from his pocket to show Zhang Jianguo, ”Look, I’ve almost kissed my wife’s face off.”

”Hahaha,” Zhang Jianguo laughed heartily, ”Your sister-in-law wasn’t wrong.”

”What did sister-in-law say?”

”Your sister-in-law said you’re getting more and more shameless.”

”Can that be eaten?”

”No.” Zhang Jianguo laughed cheerfully, ”You really have brightened up a lot since marrying An Hao. You’re a lucky guy. To have married a good wife and also have twin boys... In a couple of years, you’ll be just like those two little guys.”

Zhang Jianguo pointed to the two young boys playing on the riverbank.

”That’s still far off.” That young boy must be about five or six years old already? It would be several more years before his own little ones grew that big.

”Time passes very quickly.” Zhang Jianguo withdrew his gaze and said to Qin Jian, ”You all performed very well in the earthquake rescue, I will submit a report to request that you be commended. Hmm, even without a report, commendations should be forthcoming. You’ll definitely be awarded a second-class merit. Keep up the good work and aim to take over my position early.”

”No, you should keep working for a few more years.” Qin Jian said with a smile.

”It’s about time to retire.”

”Not yet.”

Hen Zhiyuan, from a distance, came over to report to Zhang Jianguo about the specifics of his responsibilities during the earthquake relief operation.

However, as he approached, he overheard this snippet of conversation.

Indeed, it was good to have a powerful support.

Hen Zhiyuan’s heart sank.
