Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1470: Chapter 1470: Someone Saved Us

”An Hao, how are you now? You have such a high fever—maybe you shouldn’t go today,” Zhang Yun said, looking at An Hao with concern.

”Do I still have a fever?” An Hao sat up in bed, feeling extremely dizzy.

”Yes. You were completely delirious, do you know that? And the door was bolted from the inside. If we hadn’t discovered it early, who knows what might have happened to you,” Zhang Yun still felt shaken by the episode.

When she came in, An Hao’s body was burning up with fever, repeatedly calling out Qin Jian’s name.

It really scared her out of her wits.

”It’s okay. I have antipyretics—I’ll take them and then sleep a bit, and I’ll be fine,” An Hao felt herself struggling to keep up, having watered the plants too hastily and too vigorously in her eagerness the night before.

”I think we should go to the hospital.”

”No need. Mom, believe me, after I take medicine and drink a bowl of ginger soup to dispel the chill, I’ll be fine.”

”Well... okay then.”

.........................................

The light above was a bit blinding, and Qin Jian instinctively raised his hand to block it, only to discover he couldn’t move at all; his whole body was in pain, as if it had fallen apart.

The moment he fell into that dark chasm, he thought he was a goner.

His heart was filled with endless guilt toward An Hao.

He understood the message behind the photo An Hao gave him.

She didn’t say much, but she was actually hoping he wouldn’t push himself too hard.

Qin Jian knew this better than anyone, but when he saw those two children crying helplessly, he thought of his own son.

He hoped that if his son were ever in trouble, someone would bravely rush forward to save him.

Of course, that was just his wishful thinking.

But whether it was that wishful thinking or the duty of a soldier, seeing children in danger, he knew he had to save them.

Otherwise, he would be betraying his military uniform—the honor bestowed upon him by his country!

”Commander...” Tian Niu also opened his eyes, realizing he was wrapped up like a zongzi.

Qin Jian was no exception.

The two of them lay there, stiff as mummies.

”We haven’t seen the King of Hell, have we?” Tian Niu croaked.

”Why don’t you come closer, and I’ll take a bite out of you to test, huh?” Qin Jian joked with him. Although he was injured all over, at least he was alive.

He hadn’t died, so An Hao didn’t have to become a widow, and his child wouldn’t be fatherless.

”Commander, at a time like this, you still can joke. But where the hell are we?” Tian Niu twisted the only part of his body he could move—his neck—looking around the small room.

”I don’t know. It looks like someone saved us...” Qin Jian said.

When they fell into the fissure, and the ground snapped shut, they didn’t die.

Because, when he saved the little boy, he kicked away a piece of earth, and because of that the ground closed with a void in the middle.

They were trapped in the crevice.

The air inside was scarce, and he and Tian Niu dragged their injured bodies painfully through the gap.

Luckily, the fissure didn’t close tightly, and after a great deal of effort, they saw light and excitedly tried to break through, only to find they were at the edge of the land.

During the breakout, they accidentally fell into an even deeper ravine.

And when they opened their eyes again, they found themselves in this state.

”Let’s call out... see who it was that saved us,” Tian Niu had barely finished speaking when an angry voice came from outside.
