Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 1492: Chapter 1492: Telling You the Important Matter

Ning Yibin stared at her in shock after hearing her words, ”Did you know about this beforehand?”

”A bit earlier than you all.”

”What are you guys talking about?” Zhang Yun didn’t understand the situation.

”Our son... our son has died in the earthquake relief efforts...” Ning Yibin choked up, a general who had been through many battles, a Commander of the Northern Military Region, at this moment, could no longer control the surge of emotions bursting forth, ”He... he’s never coming back.”

Zhang Yun was stunned for several seconds before she collapsed backward.

Tonight was destined not to be a peaceful night.

The Ning Family, because of the death news from the Qin Family, were all in a state of extreme grief.

An Hao knew earlier and her heartache had already turned numb.

Now this news came from her father-in-law once again, her heart’s scars were violently torn open once more, and blood streamed down the fresh wounds.

As time went on, her longing for Qin Jian had not subsided; rather, it had grown stronger.

She clung to the belief that Qin Jian must not have died, waiting and waiting.

The night grew deep.

An Hao sat at the head of the bed, watching the fireworks continuously bursting in the sky, unable to fall asleep for a long time.

By her side, the two little ones slept very soundly, completely unaware of the sufferings of the world.

They did not know the whole family was struggling to close their eyes over their father’s matter.

The phone suddenly rang, startling An Hao; she quickly answered the call, ”Hello...”

Yan Ye’s voice came through the phone, faintly tinged with tiredness, ”Sorry for calling you so late. But I have something important to tell you.”

”Okay. Go ahead.” An Hao wiped her face, clearing away all the wet tears.

”I heard some bad news today. Qin Jian and Tian Niu are still nowhere to be found, and I heard this news is about to be announced! A regiment cannot be without a leader. Hen Zhiyuan, as the deputy commander, will be the first one considered!” These words were all told to him by Yan Luquan.

”No way! I will not allow this Hen Zhiyuan to take the regiment leader’s position. A scum like him should be kicked out, not promoted!” An Hao said through gritted teeth.

”I’ve been inquiring these days. There is not a single eyewitness, the only one who knows something about it is Brother Xiaoshuan.” Yan Ye said.

”That’s enough.” Even if she couldn’t expose Hen Zhiyuan’s true face, she couldn’t let him ascend to the position of regiment leader.

”Good. Then, when I return to Lai City after the New Year, I’ll give Brother Xiaoshuan a heads up!”

After hanging up the phone, Yan Ye let out a deep sigh.

He stood by the window and smoked a cigarette for a while before going to pack his luggage.

Opening his luggage, he found that it seemed to be mixed up with some other things amongst his change of clothes. That afternoon, when he got off the car, a guard helped him with his stuff, accidentally spilling his luggage.

The zipper of his luggage had been broken by Ji Chuan, and as a result, the new guard, somewhat clumsy, had spilled the contents.

Then he scrambled to help pack it up.

Yan Ye hadn’t looked to see what got stuffed inside.

Just as Yan Ye was about to take out the items, there was a knock on the door, and Yan Huan’s voice came through, ”Brother, come out, I have something to tell you.”

”I don’t have time. Let’s talk tomorrow.” He was already very tired and just wanted to briefly organize his luggage and rest, with no intention to chat with Yan Huan.

”Hurry up! Quick! Don’t make trouble. I heard you on the phone just now. Stop pretending, I have something important to tell you.” Yan Huan shouted while knocking on the door.
