Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 316: Chapter 314 Criticized by Others

”Could it be something wrong? Hasn’t all the money Qin Jian earned from his job been given to the An Family?”

Upon hearing this, Li Junping’s face immediately fell.

Upon reflecting carefully, wasn’t it just like that? Qin Jian hadn’t given any money to his own family for quite some time.

Even when he got a bonus of two thousand yuan for helping to put out a forest fire, she had wanted to ask Qin Jian for it, but was stopped by Qin Ru Hai.

He said something like the son was grown up, about to get married, and couldn’t always be asked for money.

With him supporting the family, and their third son, Qin Fen, also working outside, they had enough money to spend.

Only then did she dismiss the idea, but now seeing how wealthy An Shuchao appeared to be, and how the An Family’s life was getting better and better, she had every reason to suspect that Qin Jian’s monthly allowance had gone straight into her future father-in-law’s pocket.

”Old Qin, I’m going to the army base to find Qin Jian. You sign the contract here by yourself!” Li Junping couldn’t calm her mind for a moment when she thought about this.

Qin Ru Hai grabbed Li Junping’s hand firmly and said, ”Why would you go there if our son is working in the provincial capital?”

”I have to ask him where An Shuchao’s money is coming from,” Li Junping said indignantly.

”And what would that achieve? Telling Qin Jian not to care for An Hao’s family from now on? To watch them live in poverty and face the harsh winds of the Northwest?” Qin Ru Hai said angrily, ”Your son has chosen their daughter, which means he’s chosen their family. How could he just ignore their household?”

”Did Qin Jian’s money come from the wind? You don’t know, do you? Their family lives too well. Yesterday, An Hao even went out to buy a chicken to stew! Does that sound like an ordinary life? It’s extremely good. What kind of life did they used to live?” Li Junping became angrier as she spoke.

”Enough, let’s not make a fuss. Tomorrow is your birthday, and your son is looking forward to celebrating it with you. An Hao will definitely come too; you can just subtly ask her then.”

Seeing that Qin Ru Hai was holding her back firmly, Li Junping took a deep breath and said, ”Fine, that’s settled. We’ll talk about it tomorrow.”

...........

Early the next morning, Qin Jian came back from the provincial capital.

For the first time in many years, since starting work, he was celebrating Li Junping’s birthday and had bought quite a few things from the credit union.

He divided these items into two parts, first stopping by An Shuchao’s house to see his future father-in-law and then heading over to An Hao’s courtyard to find her.

An Hao knew that today was Li Junping’s birthday and had specially prepared a gift.

Lately, she had heard a lot of rumors in the village, saying Qin Jian was financially supporting An Hao’s entire family, saying that the daughter-in-law was crafty, that she had already emptied Qin Jian’s pockets before marrying into the family.

All sorts of things were being said.

If she could hear these things, so could her future in-laws.

A misunderstanding allowed to linger could lead to trouble, so she definitely needed to explain things to them to avoid any confusion later on.

An Hao had readied the gift, neatly packed it in a bag, and then put on a new outfit she had bought in the city.

A white blouse with a blue skirt, she pulled her long hair back into a playful bun, making her look spirited and neat.

After getting herself ready, she picked up the gift and was about to leave when she ran into Qin Jian, who had just entered.

Seeing An Hao dressed up, a flash of amazement crossed his eyes.

Indeed, at eighteen, one is like a blossoming flower, even without any adornment An Hao was beautiful. And now, dressed like this, she looked fresh and tender, reminiscent of a lily growing in a quiet valley.
