Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 301: Chapter 300 All is well with me

”That’s fantastic, sister-in-law, you’re simply a talent!” An Hao exclaimed excitedly, jumping up to hug Zhang Lanxiang.

Zhang Lanxiang was startled by An Hao’s enthusiastic display, followed by her bursting into laughter, ”I’ve lived all these years and you’re the first to call me a talent.”

”Sister-in-law, I’m not just flattering you! You really are incredible. Hasn’t Zhang Jianguo noticed?”

”He has only noticed that my cooking isn’t tasty.”

While the two talked, the door was opened from outside; Zhang Jianguo came back, followed by Qin Jian.

”I haven’t even entered the door and I hear you’re talking about me. What are you accusing me of now?” Zhang Jianguo said with a smile.

”Where did I say anything bad about you! I was praising you!” Zhang Lanxiang said, still smiling.

While this married couple was joking around, as soon as Qin Jian entered, he noticed the clothes An Hao was wearing.

It’s true that clothes make the man, and saddles make the horse.

An Hao had changed into a different outfit, making her look altogether different from everyone else.

Qin Jian saw her and felt joy in his heart; he walked over and whispered to An Hao, ”I might have found a treasure.”

”What treasure?” An Hao didn’t understand at first.

Qin Jian’s eyes were intense as they rested on her, his smile evident without a word.

Realizing that Qin Jian was referring to her, An Hao pursed her lips with a smile.

If he really thought so, that was good enough for her.

”Oh my, look at how sweet this young couple is,” Zhang Lanxiang couldn’t help teasing them after she noticed their interaction.

”Lanxiang, have you noticed? Since Qin Jian met An Hao, his face has become so expressive, and there’s warmth in his eyes; no longer that cold, icy look!” Jianguo joked.

”Indeed! If you ask me, An Hao is your sun, melting your frozen glacier instantly upon touch,” Zhang Lanxiang said to Qin Jian.

Qin Jian glanced down at An Hao, her eyes shining, her face flushed red, making his heart soften, ”Yeah, sister-in-law is right.”

After a while filled with lively conversation, Zhang Jianguo urged his wife to get started on dinner.

An Hao refused to stay for dinner no matter what; it was already dark outside, and after eating, the return home would be late.

Qin Jian, as always, listened to An Hao.

Seeing their firm decision to leave, Zhang Jianguo and his wife did not insist any further.

An Hao and Qin Jian said their goodbyes to the couple and drove off toward home.

On the way, An Hao leaned against the car seat, enjoying the wild breeze, feeling very content. She felt a surge of passion for a new life and an urge to do something big.

By the moonlight through the window, Qin Jian saw the smile at the corner of An Hao’s mouth, ”Did you have fun today?”

”Hmm.” An Hao turned to look at him, her eyes sparkling in the dark like stars stitched into the black night sky, ”Happy, and I also found something to do. If it works out, I think I can earn quite a bit of money. Whether it’s for college or for An Ping’s future marriage, there won’t be any worries.”

”You’re thinking pretty far ahead,” Qin Jian glanced at her, ”Why wear yourself out like that? Leave it to me! ”

”Hmm... I don’t want to be a burden on you... You are a man... You have your own ambitions to pursue...” An Hao’s voice grew softer as she spoke.

Suddenly feeling his shoulder getting heavier, he looked down to see An Hao had fallen asleep; her whole weight pressed against him.
