Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

”Aren’t you afraid that we might not end up together?” This was also a concern for An Hao.

After her rebirth, she wanted to live each day with her feet firmly on the ground.

She wanted to go to university, to seize opportunities to get rich and provide a stable life for her family, to stay by Qin Jian’s side, to love him deeply, making up for the regrets of her past life.

The key issue now was that she could achieve all her dreams by attending any university other than the Military Medical University.

”Afraid!” Qin Jian answered truthfully.

”Then I’ll just go to a regular university.” As one moves forward, choices must be made, and sometimes certain things have to be sacrificed.

In her last life, she didn’t follow the military way or attain the dream of going to a military medical school.

In this life, she had these dreams, but along the way, she realized that this dream conflicted with her original intentions, so she should discard it without hesitation.

Only by doing so could she welcome a better future!

Qin Jian watched An Hao make her decision, but he felt a mix of reluctance and helplessness, so he laid it all out for her, ”An Hao, difficulties are only temporary. When the results come out, I and Commander Zhang have discussed this issue. Sure, the early days might involve some separation, but it’s okay. When it comes to formal assignments, we can work through the proper channels to make adjustments. There’s always a way, so don’t lose heart. If you really fancy the Military Medical University, then go for it. We’ll both work hard to be together in the future!”

”Really?” An Hao looked up at Qin Jian.

”Really! I’m sure!”

Qin Jian’s words acted like a shot of adrenaline, immediately revitalizing An Hao’s spirit, ”Alright then, I’ll apply for the Military Medical University.”

”The Second Military Medical University? The Third? Or the Fifth?” Qin Jian casually asked her, referring to all the top-notch military medical schools in the country.

All of these universities were in the South.

And they were in the Northern Military Region!

An Hao had already thought it through, ”I’ll attend the Military Medical University right here in our city! While it may not be a top-tier university, it’s still among the nation’s best in its category. I want to be under the same blue sky as you, breathing the same air.”

Seeing that An Hao had made up her mind, the matter was settled, and all that was left was to go to school in a couple of days to fill out the university entrance application.

”Great, great, great! It’s decided then.” An Shuchao, overjoyed, slapped his thigh, ”Who would’ve thought? I, An Shuchao, never imagined I’d have such an exceptional daughter! From now on, the An Family will also have someone in the military, and a female soldier at that!”

”A female soldier? Who’s a female soldier?” An Ping, who had just returned home with books from Erzhuzi’s place, was puzzled upon hearing these words, ”Could it be you’re talking about Comrade An Hao? She’s going to join the army?”

”Uh-huh. I’m going to the Military Medical University! I’ve decided,” An Hao said with a smile.

”Great, great, great, great!” An Ping clapped his hands and raised them in approval, ”I support you, sis! You go to the military academy! And one day you’ll become a female colonel or something! Then I can strut around the village! If anyone dares to bully our An Family, just mow them down with a machine gun!”

Upon hearing this, Qin Jian choked on his drink and nearly coughed it up.

An Hao laughed heartily at An Ping’s foolish remarks, ”Have you lost your mind? It’s a military medical school, not a military academy! And ’mowing people down with a machine gun’ if we’re bullied—you think your sister is a female bandit or what?”
