Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 765: Soul Fire Origin

ʼAn undead demon, eh? This is my first time meeting such a demon, but she doesnʼt seem to have evolved yet.ʼ Zhang Fei [5] muttered as he watched Wang Yin from afar.

[According to the system, an undead demon can evolve twice into a mutated undead demon and a superior undead demon, but their evolution process is much longer than other demons. Are you interested in getting her, Master?]

ʼAre you crazy, Mei? Wang Yinʼs demon rank and cultivation are indeed high, but she is no different from a corpse, okay? I wouldnʼt be so crazy as to have a female corpse by my side, especially since itʼs too disgusting.ʼ

[Hehehe! Even though she is no different from a corpse, she is quite beautiful and sexy. If you can get her, you—]

ʼGet that idea out of your mind!ʼ Zhang Fei [5] then looked at the demon emperor. ʼScan him, Mei.ʼ

[All right.]

ʼOh? Another demon race, but why is his physique an undead?ʼ

[Based on the systemʼs scan, there is no sign of life from Shou Fubai, and Wang Yin probably resurrected him with her corpse puppetry, Master.]

Zhang Fei [5] replied with a nod. ʼThese two demons have injury immunity, pain immunity, and negative effect immunity. Moreover, they are much stronger than me in demon rank and cultivation, so it will be difficult to defeat them.ʼ

[Master, I think you should mimic Wang Yinʼs pain immunity and Shou Fubaiʼs negative effect immunity. If you can mimic both of them, you will no longer feel pain, and you will also be immune to negative effects such as control techniques or the like.]

Zhang Fei [5] was tempted to mimic both abilities, but they were too strong for him, and none of his women could help him. Although Hong Xinxin and Murong Qianyingʼs cultivation was on par with theirs, they wouldnʼt necessarily be able to help him fight them. After all, the demonsʼ physiques are basically stronger than humansʼ, and their abilities would affect them, especially Shou Fubaiʼs corruption abilities. ʼLet me approach them first, and Iʼll mimic their abilities if thatʼs possible.ʼ

[Are you sure you want to approach them now, master?]

ʼEven though they are much stronger than me, Iʼm sure they wonʼt be able to match my speed, so you donʼt need to worry.ʼ Zhang Fei [5] immediately returned to his complete fox form, but he made his form completely black, with two blood-red eyes and one tail.

When Zhang Fei [5] walked towards the Soul Pond, Shou Fubai showed no reaction, but Wang Yin directly suppressed him. The demons standing guard some distance away moved to stop him, but the demon empress ordered them to retreat immediately. ”Where did you come from, Little Fox?”

”I came from the Netherworld Realm, and a senior brought me here to train.” Zhang Fei [5]ʼs casual answer surprised Wang Yin, especially since her aura was still pressing him. ”Big Sis, can you retract your aura? I just want to soak in this pond after practicing for a long time so I can relieve my fatigue.”

Wang Yin immediately retracted her aura, which relieved Zhang Fei [5]. ”Isnʼt the Netherworld Realm just an ordinary demon realm? As far as I know, there are no demon cultivators in that realm, but you are clearly a demon cultivator, and your cultivation is almost at the 7-Star Earth Realm.”

”Iʼm not lying to you, Big Sis.” Zhang Fei [5] carefully entered the Soul Pond, but he felt something trying to enter his body. Since the system didnʼt react to stop it, he fought it and knocked it back before continuing. ”The Netherworld Realm is my origin realm, but I left that realm a few years ago because a senior demon brought me to the Abyssal Realm, and she taught me how to cultivate.”

”Oh?” Wang Yin was surprised to hear that. ”Who brought you to the Abyssal Realm?”

”Are you a demon from the Abyssal Realm, Big Sis?”

Wang Yin shook her head. ”I come from the Demon Purgatory Realm, but my realm is not far from the Abyssal Realm, so I am quite familiar with the demons of that realm, especially their demon emperor.”

ʼHow many demon realms are there actually in this universe?ʼ Zhang Fei [5] then told her. ”My senior is Morgana, the witch demon.”

”Oh?” Wang Yin was surprised once again. ”Do you really know Morgana? How do you know her? Where is she now?”

ʼThis Wang Yin also knows Morgana, eh?ʼ Zhang Fei [5] then explained to Wang Yin about his encounter with the witch demon, but he didnʼt explain the truth, especially since he didnʼt know for sure about the relationship between them. ”I donʼt know where she is now because she left again after she dropped me off in this realm, and she told me she would pick me up in the next few months. Do you have a good relationship with her, Big Sis?”

”Not really.” Wang Yin answered with a shake of her head. ”I met Morgana a few times in the past, and that witch was quite cunning. Even so, I donʼt have any problems with her, but I donʼt have a close relationship with her either. Whatʼs your name? You should be able to turn into a human, right?”

”Zhang Xiolong.” Zhang Fei [5] then changed to his half-fox form. ”I canʼt transform into a full human yet, and I can only transform to this extent, Big Sis.”

Wang Yin immediately pulled Zhang Fei [5] to her side and groped his face, causing him discomfort, especially since her body gave off the smell of a corpse. ”Not bad; you are still young and handsome, and I want to take you back to my realm. If you accompany me every day, I will give you lots of good demon resources, and you can reach the archduke rank faster than you should.”

ʼTch! Do you think I want to accompany a corpse like you? Your body odor is too disgusting, like a rotting carrion.ʼ Zhang Fei [5] immediately rejected her. ”I canʼt do that, Big Sis. Big Sis Morgana will look for me in this realm, so I wonʼt leave here.”

”Did I say I would be leaving this realm anytime soon?” Wang Yin responded with a shake of her head. ”Many of my men are training in this realm, and I still have to look for the Soul Fire, so I will be staying here for quite some time.”

ʼAs expected! These demons also want to get the Soul Fire.ʼ Zhang Fei [5] then asked her. ”What is Soul Fire, Big Sis? Why have I never heard of it? Big Sis Morgana didnʼt tell me anything about it, and she only told me about this pond.”

Wang Yin pointed to the wandering souls above them. ”They are the souls of all living creatures who died in this realm, and they have been here for thousands of years. I donʼt know why they keep wandering here, but their existence here gave birth to a phenomenon, which is the soul fire.”

”So, the soul fire was born from the burning resentment and will of these wandering souls?”

”Yes.” Wang Yin nodded to Zhang Fei [5]. ”According to the stories of the old demon cultivators, many of the first wandering souls gathered in the center of this realm because their corpses were buried there, and they vented their deep resentment there, which over time crystallized and burned until the Soul Fire was born. Unfortunately, thousands of years have passed, but no one has managed to find the Soul Fire.”

ʼA fire born from the resentment of countless dead people, huh? Can I really absorb such a fire? Wonʼt their resentment affect me?ʼ Zhang Fei [5] was hesitant about getting the Soul Fire, but he had no other choice but to get it, especially since he would never be able to perfect the Yin-Yang Fire Art without it. ”Do you know the history of this realm, Big Sis? Why are there only these wandering souls in this realm?”

”I donʼt know for sure about that, but the news outside says that a demon from the upper realms killed all the inhabitants of this realm, and the demon cursed their souls so that they ended up as these wandering souls.” Zhang Fei [5] immediately guessed the identity of the demon, and Wang Yinʼs next words proved his guess. ”According to the news, the demon is one of the ancient demons from the Abyssal Realm, and if I remember correctly, his name is Xereth.”

ʼFuck! Xereth again!ʼ Zhang Fei [5] inwardly cursed, but he immediately ignored it. ”Big Sis, is it okay for me to absorb the thing in this pond?”

”Oh? Is that thing trying to enter your body?” Zhang Fei [5] nodded to Wang Yin. ”Itʼs okay to absorb it, but you must be in control and do it slowly. Otherwise, it will control you and take over your body, and the worst thing is that you will die because it will devour your soul.”

Zhang Fei [5] shuddered after hearing that, and he tried to check the inside of the pond, but he couldnʼt see anything. Mei and his map were also unable to find anything there, which worried him about what might be inside.

ʼShit! Iʼll try to check the inside of this pond later, but I have to wait for Wang Yin and the other demons to leave.ʼ Zhang Fei [5] then looked at Shou Fubai. ”By the way, who is this male demon? Why is there no sign of life from him?”

”Hehe.” Wang Yin chuckled. ”You noticed it, huh? Shou Fubai was my old enemy, and I managed to kill him after we had been enemies for hundreds of years. Since he was a powerful demon and his abilities were quite terrifying to many other demons, I decided to use my puppetry to control his corpse, and he would only move under my command. Since then, my other enemies didnʼt dare attack me, and I could live peacefully in my corpse kingdom.”

”Oh.” Zhang Fei [5] nodded in understanding. ”Do you often kill humans and demons, Big Sis?”

Wang Yin shook her head before explaining. ”To be honest, I was once a human, but someone turned me into a corpse demon. I donʼt know the identity of that person because I was already dead at that time, but I suddenly woke up again, and I had become a corpse demon. At first, I had a difficult time accepting my situation, and I tried to commit suicide many times. Unfortunately, I no longer have a soul, and one of my abilities continues to restore my body, so I can never die. In the end, I decided to accept my situation, and I continue to improve myself to protect myself. Therefore, I only kill whoever attacks me first, be they humans or demons, and Shou Fubai is one of them.”

”Have you ever tried to find the person who turned you into this?”

”Countless times to no avail.” Wang Yin replied with a heavy sigh. ”Since I couldnʼt find that person, I decided to give up, and I havenʼt tried again since then. By the way, weʼve wasted a lot of time, so you can start absorbing that thing, but you have to do it carefully, and you have to control it. If it manages to control you, I wonʼt be able to help you, and youʼll die.”

”Iʼll try it, Big Sis.” Zhang Fei [5] closed his eyes and let that thing enter his body, but he swiftly restricted it and slowly absorbed it. ʼCheck the thing, Mei.ʼ

[Yes, Master.]

On the other hand, Wang Yin did not immediately resume her activities, and she stared at Zhang Fei [5] while observing his inner body using her senses. Once she was sure that she could control the thing, she closed her eyes and started absorbing it as well. ʼThis young demon is really interesting! No wonder that witch demon is interested in him, but I remember for sure that she is married to that celestial demon, so I canʼt guess her reason for approaching this kid.ʼ

”Senior Brother, I have an idea about Shang Xishun.”

Lin Moxian turned to Zhang Xiaolong [3]. ”What is your idea of that woman?”

”You can make that woman pretend to obey Xi Hongyan, but you have to give control of that woman to someone else, such as Xinxin.” Lin Moxian was surprised to hear that. ”If Shang Xishun is under her control, she can use her to destroy the Shang Clan, and she can also use her to monitor the Xi Clan.”

”Isnʼt it no different? Whether itʼs Xinxin or Hongyan who destroys the Shang Clan, the situation in this realm will still be chaotic.”

”Youʼre wrong about that, Senior Brother.” Zhang Xiaolong [3] then explained. ”If Xi Hongyan destroys the Shang Clan, their possessions will fall into her hands, which will make her Xi Clan even stronger. Therefore, Xinxin and the Hong Clan should destroy the Shang Clan and let Grandpa Hong inherit its possessions, which will benefit them and their alliance.”

”Hahah! Youʼre still young, but youʼre already this cunning, and youʼll be even more cunning when you grow up.” Lin Moxian spoke as he ruffled Zhang Xiaolong [3]ʼs hair. ”However, you are right; the Shang Clanʼs possessions will be more useful if they fall into the hands of the Hong Clan because Grandpa Hong is an upright man, and he will never create chaos or oppress other clans. On the contrary, Xi Hongyan was too ambitious, and she had always harbored the dream of becoming the sole ruler of this realm. If she and her Xi clan become stronger and surpass the other clans, then this realm will be under her complete control.”

Zhang Xiaolong [3] immediately touched Lin Moxianʼs forehead and shared his memories of when he talked with Hun Di, Qiao Liangren, and Shang Yingyue a few months ago.

”Hmm?” Lin Moxian immediately watched all those memories, which greatly shocked him. ”You—”

”Shh!” Zhang Xiaolong [3] stopped him immediately. ”Our master said that we should not lie to family members, so Iʼm telling you the truth. Xinxin, Grandpa Hong, and the other members of the Hong Clan already know my true identity, but Murong Qianying still doesnʼt know the truth.”

Lin Moxian let out a soft sigh as he nodded. ”Our master hates lies so much, and he will punish us severely if we do. Do you have a problem with Qianying? Why donʼt you tell her the truth?”

”Honestly, I had no problem with her at first, and I infiltrated the Shang Clan because Shang Huaqiang made some of my women suffer, so I wanted to take revenge on him. Unfortunately, he was too strong, so I decided to disguise myself like this.” Lin Moxian nodded in understanding to Zhang Xiaolong [3]. ”Murong Qianying found out about me from Shang Chenguang, and she went to the Wasteland Realm to capture and control me. Instead, I made her fall for me, and we have been together ever since.”

Lin Moxian raised his eyebrows. ”So what you mean is that not only did you get his two daughters, but you also got Qianying as your woman?”

”Haha.” Zhang Xiaolong [3] laughed. ”Murong Qianying is one of my women, but she is different from Xinxin. I was never really interested in her, so I donʼt want to tell her about my true identity.”

”You are truly insane! Qianying is a married woman, but you actually have such a relationship with her.” Lin Moxian suddenly stood up, so Zhang Xiaolong [3] followed suit. ”Your relationship with her is none of my business, so you can take care of it yourself. Since youʼre not a child, and you can deceive a woman of her caliber, you should have no problem facing Xi Hongyan, right?”

Zhang Xiaolong [3] casually shrugged. ”Xi Hongyan may be as strong as Shang Huaqiang, but I will not be afraid to face her.”

”Thatʼs good! Letʼs go to the Xi Clan now.”
