CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 2023: Chapter 2031: Show Some Backbone

After taking the medicine and applying strong physical cooling, Jane Sampson’s high fever had subsided somewhat by daybreak, although she still had a mild fever.

However, fortunately, she didn’t continue to cry out about feeling cold.

Overnight, she sweated a lot, and James Black wiped her body twice, changed her pajamas twice, and even changed the quilt once, just hoping she’d sleep more comfortably.

The next morning, over seven o’clock, the mute aunt got up to make breakfast and intentionally went upstairs to check on Jane Sampson and James Black’s room, knowing that Jane Sampson still had a mild fever. The mute aunt didn’t say anything and turned to go back downstairs.

An hour later, the mute aunt brought up a bowl of congee, knocked on the door, then left it at the doorway without saying a word before leaving.

James Black was quite surprised by the mute aunt’s change. He took the bowl from outside the door when Jane Sampson happened to wake up.

As he turned around, he met Jane Sampson’s gaze.

”Awake now, still feeling uncomfortable?” James Black went over and asked softly.

”My whole body feels weak and limp.” Jane Sampson turned her head to look at her arm, pouting and murmuring, ”I woke up from the pain in my arm.”

”I just changed your medicine; the wound is a bit inflamed,” James Black said, ”Anti-inflammatory medicine on the wound may hurt a bit.”

Her fever was also caused by the inflammation of the wound.

”I’ll have the mute aunt buy some oral anti-inflammatory medicine for you later,” James Black said, ”I can’t take you to the hospital, so hold on for two days, then I’ll send you back.”

”I’ll try my best,” Jane Sampson said, then sighed silently in her heart, if she really tried hard, she shouldn’t have gotten a fever, and her arm shouldn’t be inflamed.

”After sleeping for a long time, sit up slowly,” James Black helped Jane Sampson sit up, talking about things to distract her, saying, ”Bright Sampton went to the police station and saw the burnt remains; he cried and fainted on the spot. His way out of the police station while being supported was photographed and spread online; now, people on the internet are mourning for you everywhere.”

As he spoke, James Black handed his cracked-screen mobile phone to Jane Sampson, ”Browse Twitter for a while, entertain yourself with it for half an hour, then it’s time to have breakfast.”

Jane Sampson had no account logged in to Twitter, but using a tourist identity, she could still browse these news items.

Seeing Bright Sampton being supported out by the police and onto the police car in the photos, Jane Sampson’s heart truly felt a wave of bitterness.

After Father Sampton and Mother Sampton’s divorce, Julie Sampton also took Mother Sampson abroad, and Bright Sampton had been resenting his father for being selfish, so he hadn’t been interacting with Father Sampton recently.

In Bright Sampton’s heart, she was probably his closest and dearest relative in this world.

Before Bright Sampton’s training, she was happily chatting with him about the progress of the home stay.

But now, he suddenly had to go to claim her remains, which was truly an excruciating pain for Bright Sampton, a boy just over twenty.

So, it’s understandable that he was so weakened that he needed support.

Jane Sampson was planning to exit Twitter when she suddenly noticed an unexpected person in the photos.

”Why is President Forest, Kane Forest, accompanying Bright Sampton to the police station?” Jane Sampson pointed to one of the photos where a less noticeable corner showed someone photographed above the waist wearing sunglasses and a mask.

Jane Sampson immediately recognized it was President Forest.

After all, they were in the same game group, and she had seen him several times, so Jane Sampson was quite familiar with Kane Forest’s face.

James Black looked carefully and then vaguely recognized a silhouette resembling Kane Forest.

It was indeed quite unexpected.

If it were Alexander instead, he would find it more normal.

After all, with Alexander not present, Jane Sampson had an incident, and Alexander, as his friend, accompanying Bright Sampton from Capital Province to claim the remains seemed quite normal.
