I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 647: Chapter 646

For Beisitian, this month felt like it was dragging on forever. The child’s full-month day was just a week away, and during this time, the family was busy planning the full-month celebration, deciding whether to host it at home or in a hotel.

Considering the number of expected guests would be large, even without widely inviting many, just having some familiar faces would still bring a lot of people, and two courtyards might not be enough.

However, Beisitian needed to undergo confinement for more than forty days, and going out could lead to catching a cold.

Beisitian quickly seized the opportunity to say, ”Mom, I think it’s better to hold it at a hotel. There will be too many people coming, and you know Xudong and I have a lot of friends. There’s just no way to fit everyone in the courtyard!”

She’s almost going crazy; she’d rather end the confinement as soon as possible after a month than face over forty days. She could barely endure even a day now.

Luo Xudong noticed Beisitian’s intention, yet he chose not to expose it; he had consulted with many specialists on this. However, forty days is indeed the recommended duration, but not taking baths isn’t advisable.

By now, Beisitian’s wounds had mostly healed. Bathing hadn’t been a problem since ten days ago, but Mrs. Qin wouldn’t allow it, fearing the cold weather might cause a chill.

Since his mother-in-law meant well for his wife, Luo Xudong naturally didn’t say much, which left Beisitian in a tough spot.

Every time he faced his wife’s resentful glare, he pretended not to notice.

Mrs. Qin approached with a damp cloth, saying, ”Hang in there just a little longer. Isn’t it just twenty more days? Here, let me wipe your sweat.”

Beisitian sighed, glancing at the brazier nearby. In November, it was already time to set up the brazier.

Beisitian obediently removed her clothes, then said, ”Mom, I can do it myself.”

Mrs. Qin avoided her hands, ”Let me do it. You should exert less effort; not doing confinement properly affects women significantly.”

Beisitian’s expression was very gentle; with such a mother-in-law, she’d support her for life.

After finishing wiping Beisitian’s body, the three children awoke, wailing for milk, as two temporary workers hurried in from outside. Along with Mrs. Qin, each carried a child, with two trying to soothe them, while one fed them.

When the feeding was done, nearly an hour had passed.

Beisitian’s nutrition was ample, and nursing three children was not an issue; sometimes, there was even a bit extra, which Dong Fengzhen suggested could be used to make handmade soap.

Initially, in confinement, the two temporary workers were responsible for bathing the children, washing them one by one, which took over an hour to clean all three little ones.

At first, the children’s umbilical cords hadn’t fully recovered; two people were needed to wash one child, using sloped boards for support since the navel couldn’t be exposed to water.

A few days ago, all three kids’ umbilicals had healed, but bathing still required two people per child.

Due to the cold weather, bathing happened every two days, leaving the temporary workers quite busy. From morning till night, they barely had any rest with the three kids.

Beisitian’s suggestion was eventually accepted; analysis showed they needed to set up at least five or six tables, all for closer relations.

Matai Lai was entrusted with choosing the banquet location; he was sure to handle it properly, which saved Beisitian from worrying.

At that moment, Beisitian was counting the days, living day by day. Though time passed quickly, it still felt difficult.

Finally, enduring till the last few days, Beisitian decided to bathe right after the month ended, urgently needing relief.

Mrs. Qin, worn out by her persistence, sat there with a towel in hand, with plans to seal up the room and add another brazier, intending to raise the temperature in advance of bathing!

After the whole month, Beisitian finally took a bath, and was contentedly soaking in the big tub, not wanting to get out.

”This, I asked your mother-in-law to prepare a medicinal bath for you; it’s full of herbs that ease the muscles and joints. What’s it called again, sweat steaming or something like that? They say it’s beneficial for the body post-confinement.” Mrs. Qin said.

She had also removed her clothes as the room temperature was very high. The environment she’d created, albeit not professional, still counted as steaming. Especially using plastic to construct a space for Beisitian ensured plenty of sweat.

”How do they call it, removing dampness or something, I’m not quite sure, but your mother-in-law said it’s really good.” Mrs. Qin continued.

”You’re really great, mom.” Beisitian naturally understood that this method expelled moisture and cold from the body, which was extremely helpful for new mothers, reducing later health issues.

Moreover, this opportunity was more effective than regular saunas!

Mrs. Qin hadn’t expected such words from Beisitian, immediately feeling a bit embarrassed and, to hide it, she glared at her before looking away.

Seeing this, Beisitian laughed.

After thoroughly enjoying her bath and sauna, Beisitian felt refreshed all over, a sensation considerably different, largely due to eliminating cold and moisture.

The full-month banquet was scheduled for the actual full-month day, conveniently on a Sunday, when many people nearby wouldn’t be working. Most who worked still managed to attend.

Originally, Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo intended for a large celebration, but Beisitian and Luo Xudong had other plans.

They weren’t against giving the child a grand full-month banquet; it was just that there were many concerns, like reactions from Luo Jiale and Beidewang.

Both were wise people, and through some of their reactions, one could almost discern they were talking about a pair, likely referring to two daughters.

This led Beisitian to reflect on her relationship to Bei Jiale—could there be any connection?

Though they weren’t inclined to think about such matters, many things were beyond their control, prompting them to invite only close acquaintances, opting for subtlety.

The guest list was handed to Matai Lai, who had made individual invitations long ago.

Wu Yuekai would certainly be present, along with the whole Tian family, and due to the Wei Family brothers, they also invited Wei Yuanqing from the Wei family. Additionally, Matai Lai’s entire family and Peng Baocheng’s family, now connected to Beisitian, naturally would attend.

Luo Xuhua’s family definitely had to come; despite Shao Simin’s situation, they were still Luo Xudong’s cousins, and ignoring that wouldn’t be sensible, especially since the two families had no real conflict.

They were debating now whether to invite Beidewang.

It wasn’t about not wanting to invite, but the fact that Beidewang was ’deceased,’ and having him suddenly appear could cause unnecessary panic, as many present knew who Beidewang was, including Luo Anguo’s couple and Luo Xuhua.
