I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 626: Chapter 625

Luo Xuping laughed out loud, ”Which slingshot can’t shoot birds? But you’ve reminded me, even if I send a slingshot, where can I find one now?”

Slingshots are usually made at home; they wouldn’t sell such rustic things in the shops.

To be honest, Luo Xuping had no idea what to buy. Now that someone gave him an idea, he was focused on finding a slingshot.

”I know a place where a grandpa makes particularly good slingshots, but it’s about a ten-minute walk, so I can’t go with you.” Cheng Tianji said regretfully. He still had to buy a gift for his sister, which couldn’t be delayed.

Luo Xuping, since arriving in Beijing, rarely chatted so casually with his peers and felt it was a pity to part ways.

Youths don’t overthink things; since they took a liking to each other, they exchanged home landline numbers and addresses, so they could meet again later.

Cheng Tianji happily went to buy an inkstone, and Luo Xuping quickened his pace to buy a slingshot, thinking he could contact Tianji later to hang out, but he didn’t expect they’d meet again so soon.

Luo Xuping followed the route Cheng Tianji described and rushed over. He saw the slingshots were indeed great, costing eighty cents each. He hesitated a moment, bought two, using his own pocket money because the vendor couldn’t break a hundred.

The craftsmanship of the slingshot was exquisite. Luo Xuping loved it immediately. It’s a pity there weren’t any forests around; otherwise, he’d definitely go bird-hunting, pluck the feathers, and roast them over a fire — what a treat!

After playing with the slingshot for a while, he suddenly realized he was out of time. He bolted home and, upon arriving, saw Brother Chen’s car already parked at the door. He thought, ”Uh-oh,” and rushed inside.

Given Chen Jinliang’s age, he could easily call him uncle, but since he was young and casual, he just called him brother.

”Sis, I’m back late.” Luo Xuping admitted his mistake as soon as he got in, even though he knew his sister wouldn’t blame him, he still felt a bit embarrassed.

”Where’ve you been!” Mrs. Qin rolled her eyes at him.

”Went to buy a gift. Didn’t know what to get, ended up wandering longer.” Luo Xuping said.

Beisitian stepped forward and took his hand, ”Let’s go. We aren’t rushing for dinner, so cooking a bit late won’t be an issue.”

”Don’t spoil him; he’s just half-grown and already a handful.” Mrs. Qin followed behind, still worried, ”Listen to your sister now, don’t roam around like crazy, and keep some distance from her.”

Luo Xuping quickly stepped a few paces back but still held on to Beisitian’s hand. He stuck his tongue out at Beisitian and hurried into the car. If they didn’t leave soon, his mom would nag him for another twenty minutes!

”Mom, we’re off. With Captain Chen, there’s no need to worry.” Beisitian said as she rolled down the window.

Mrs. Qin waved her hand, watching the car drive away.

On the way, Beisitian asked what gift Luo Xuping bought, and he proudly took out the slingshot, saying, ”Sis, look how well this slingshot is made. I sneakily bought an extra one, didn’t dare let Mom know.”

Beisitian smiled and patted his head, ”When I give birth to the little ones, I’ll accompany you to the nearby woods to shoot birds.”

Luo Xuping’s eyes lit up, ”Sure! Bring my nieces and nephews along!”

In the front, Chen Jinliang couldn’t help but laugh when he heard little Luo Xuping mention ’nieces and nephews.’ The kid spoke with a hint of youthful immaturity, yet he was already acting grown-up.

The group soon arrived at Cheng ZhenGuo’s house. Cheng ZhenGuo was there too, having taken half a day off to celebrate Cheng Tianji’s birthday.

They originally wanted to invite Beisitian but were afraid such a small matter would waste her time. A Mystic Doctor’s time shouldn’t be too leisurely, especially being pregnant. They didn’t expect Beisitian to say she’d come to celebrate their son’s birthday herself.

Cheng ZhenGuo and Mrs. Cheng were immensely grateful, knowing it’s because Beisitian genuinely cared for Cheng Tianji. Like she said, only with psychological therapy, will he heal faster!

However, what they didn’t expect was that there was a little one behind Beisitian. The two exchanged a glance, both seeing the surprise in each other’s eyes.

No one had heard that Doctor Bei already had such a big son, wasn’t the one in her belly her first?

”Secretary Cheng, Mrs. Cheng, this is my brother, Luo Xuping.” Beisitian introduced with a smile.

Luo Xuping curiously looked at the Cheng couple, feeling that the man was quite authoritative and the woman had an air about her. In the past, they might have looked down on a little punk like him, but standing beside his sister, he unconsciously gained confidence. Besides, he couldn’t embarrass his sister or get stage fright.

”Hello, Uncle and Auntie!” Luo Xuping said loudly.

Cheng ZhenGuo laughed heartily, ”What a confident young man!”

Mrs. Cheng also smiled and nodded, giving him some snacks and drinks since they hadn’t prepared a gift for an unexpected child.

But even though Beisitian brought another guest, understanding she intended to celebrate her son’s birthday together, Mrs. Cheng still felt anxious.

Her son’s personality was such that he didn’t like meeting strangers, and even if he did, the child wasn’t even ten years old. If he saw her son in his current state, he’d be terrified. It would only add to her son’s troubles, possibly worsening his condition.

Mrs. Cheng wanted to give a hint but recalled that Doctor Bei never did anything abrupt or unnecessary, so she swallowed her words. She’d previously doubted Doctor Bei, yet the doctor had snatched their son back from death’s door. Now, naturally, there was no reason to doubt her.

Moreover, if they entrusted Doctor Bei with treatment, they should trust her!

Mrs. Cheng quickly came around to this, although internally nervous, she showed nothing outwardly.

Luo Xuping was also quite anxious, constantly pondering how to properly greet later, simulating several scenarios— one seemed suitable, then another, then none at all.

He wasn’t afraid of much, just anxious about not making a good impression, disappointing his sister. She had only ever asked him for this one thing, and if he messed it up, he’d feel guilty towards her.

Cheng ZhenGuo and Mrs. Cheng had already reached Cheng Tianji’s door. Cheng ZhenGuo opened it and cheerfully said, ”Tianji, look who’s here?”

Cheng Tianji immediately sat up straight, eyes looking towards the door.

Mrs. Cheng quickly entered the room, making way for her son.

Beisitian soon appeared at the door, and Cheng Tianji’s mouth began to rise. However, quickly, he saw the figure behind her, and his smile froze.

That person followed Beisitian into the room, both standing in full radiant sunlight, eyes wide open.

Luo Xuping looked at Cheng Tianji in shock, saying, ”You...”

Cheng ZhenGuo and Mrs. Cheng’s hearts tightened immediately, expecting this outcome.
