I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 627: Chapter 626

”It’s you!” Cheng Tianji widened his eyes.

Luo Xuping followed up, ”It’s actually you!”

The three adults in the room were taken aback by the two kids’ exclamations. They thought, do they know each other?

”Does Tianji know Doctor Bei’s younger brother?” Cheng ZhenGuo asked with a face full of confusion.

Cheng Tianji’s face stiffened, and his neck felt a bit rigid. He had sneaked out without the family knowing. When the help found out, they were so scared they almost fainted. Later, when Cheng Tianji returned, he threatened the help to keep it a secret; otherwise, he’d tell his parents they were negligent, and that’s how it was kept under wraps.

Luo Xuping said, ”Yes, we know each other.”

Cheng Tianji wore an expression of doom. This time, the truth was about to be uncovered, and if his dad found out, he’d surely blow up!

Cheng ZhenGuo’s face darkened. How did Cheng Tianji know Luo Xuping since Luo Xuping had never been here?

”My sister often talks to me about you and even drew a portrait of you. My sister’s drawings are really good, but she didn’t tell me we were coming here; otherwise, I wouldn’t have been so surprised.” Luo Xuping spoke without pausing for breath.

Cheng Tianji blinked in surprise, then quickly nodded, ”Yes, yes, your sister drew me too, and the likeness is amazing. At first glance, I thought you stepped out of the painting!”

Chen Zhen Country listened and thought it made sense. After all, there were so many people around his son that it was impossible for him to have sneaked out. So, he laughed, ”Who would’ve thought Doctor Bei could paint!”

Beisitian gave the two children a half-smile, half-serious look. The two of them slightly lowered their heads, glancing quickly at each other with uncertainty in their eyes.

”Yes, I can paint, but I’m not very skilled at it.” Beisitian didn’t deny it.

The two kids secretly breathed a sigh of relief, especially Cheng Tianji, who genuinely felt relieved.

Cheng ZhenGuo and his wife saw that Doctor Bei’s younger brother wasn’t afraid of their son and was getting along well, not like it was their first meeting. They couldn’t help but feel grateful to Beisitian. If not for the portraits she drew, the two young ones might not have accepted each other so quickly.

Meanwhile, the two kids were making faces at each other, not even bothering to chat about the gifts they bought. Their minds were on how they would explain things to Beisitian later.

Don’t be fooled by Beisitian’s gentle demeanor. Although she looks easygoing, she’s the hardest one to deal with, something Luo Xuping knows all too well.

The two kids occasionally glanced at Beisitian, seeing her smiling at the cake. But her eyes didn’t seem to have a hint of the cake’s reflection. Previously, they would’ve thought her smile was beautiful and heartwarming, but now, it felt eerie.

Cheng ZhenGuo and Mrs. Cheng were the happiest. This birthday was truly special; their son finally had a friend he wasn’t afraid of!

Mrs. Cheng started the birthday song, and everyone clapped and sang along, except Beisitian, who only clapped because she feared her singing would confuse others.

Cheng Tianji blew out the candles on the birthday cake, his face beaming with joy. Never mind how to explain things to his sister later; at this moment, he was genuinely happy!

He hadn’t felt so happy in a long time!

Each person got a slice of cake. Beisitian, not wanting to eat anything too sweet, just tasted it lightly. Watching the two kids eat joyfully, both Cheng Tianji and Luo Xuping had bright smiles on their faces.

Fate is truly mysterious. Although they hadn’t explained what happened, they knew Luo Xuping had gone out to buy a gift today and that’s how he met Cheng Tianji.

Not long after, Cheng ZhenGuo and Mrs. Cheng left, intending to leave the room to the two kids. Beisitian pretended to check on Cheng Tianji and didn’t go out immediately.

Once the door closed, one kid sat obediently, the other stood quietly, both looking like they were ready to listen to a lecture, which made Beisitian laugh.

But especially regarding Cheng Tianji, she had to be serious.

”Tell me, how did you two meet?” Beisitian asked.

Cheng Tianji instinctively looked at Luo Xuping, who didn’t even raise his head, clearly ready to come clean, so he had to explain the situation in general.

Luo Xuping could help him keep things from his parents, but he would never keep anything from Beisitian.

After hearing the full story, Beisitian’s expression really darkened.

”Do you know the consequences of your actions? Do you know those kids don’t understand consequences? Do you know if something happened to you, how your dad and mom would feel? Wouldn’t they be heartbroken and follow you too?”

Cheng Tianji turned pale at the last sentence. He hadn’t considered these things when he went out, only focusing on buying a gift for Beisitian!

Yes, if anything happened to him, his mom would be the first to go crazy, followed by his dad. He hadn’t considered the consequences of his actions at all. He just wanted to surprise Beisitian with a gift he picked out himself, but he knew he wouldn’t be allowed out, so he thought of this plan only after feeling confident physically.

Cheng Tianji was both scared and a bit aggrieved. He looked up quickly at Beisitian and then lowered his head to admit his mistake, ”Sister, I know I was wrong.”

Beisitian shifted her gaze to Luo Xuping.

Luo Xuping instantly felt his skin tighten, akin to the feeling he had when Luo Anguo was about to hit him, a psychological reflex. He didn’t expect his sister’s mere glance to have such an effect—it was truly terrifying.

”Why didn’t you tell me when you came back?” Beisitian asked.

Luo Xuping mumbled, unable to respond. He simply hadn’t realized that the person was the one Beisitian wanted him to meet. He thought it was a trivial matter, not worth mentioning to the adults.

Beisitian understood that in this scenario, Luo Xuping wasn’t really at fault. He even acted heroically. That was good, and it even gave him a common topic with Cheng Tianji, also a good thing. But she was a bit scared; heroic acts need to match one’s abilities. This time, it was a clever move, but don’t risk yourself in the future.

This couldn’t be said in front of others, especially since Cheng Tianji was the one saved. She didn’t want to discourage Luo Xuping from helping people but rather wanted him to act within his capabilities.

Cheng Tianji truly realized his mistake. He had seen firsthand how his parents exhausted themselves over his illness, so he couldn’t make reckless decisions that would worry them.

Beisitian knew these two kids were actually quite insightful. Once things were explained clearly, they’d understand. They were suited to succeed in the political arena.

”Alright, let’s leave it at that. You need to think it over yourselves. Now, give me the gift you brought,” Beisitian said, raising an eyebrow with a smile, holding out her hand to Cheng Tianji.

Cheng Tianji was momentarily stunned, then quickly took out the gift box hidden behind the cushions.
