I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 605: Chapter 604: Sudden Fetal Movement

The ward was left with just her and Luo Xudong. She gently caressed Luo Xudong’s cheek, ”Hang in there, together, we’ll make it through.”

Once again, she took up the pen to make a talisman. After the Spiritual Talisman was formed, a fine layer of sweat appeared on her forehead, and her face lost its color. This was the second time making talismans today, yet it only had the effect of the first time.

Beisitian gave the talismanic water to Luo Xudong to drink. As soon as the talismanic water took effect, she finally let out a long breath of relief.

As long as the talismanic water could work, she had a way to awaken Luo Xudong!

Beisitian gathered her energy and continued to make talismans, continued to extract her Original Essence Qi Spirit, and made two Xuan Talismans consecutively, her complexion turned as white as snow.

Beisitian placed her hand gently on her belly, hesitating inwardly whether to continue. Just one more time would suffice, but her energy was running low.

After thinking for a moment, Beisitian decided to continue. As long as it didn’t harm the child, she must strive to the utmost. Otherwise, if she gave up now, she would have to wait until she fully recovered to perform the next treatment. Before that, she could only watch helplessly if Luo Xudong had any relapses.

Beisitian forced herself to rally and picked up the pen and Yellow Talisman once more.

She was well aware of her limits; she could only produce such a Xuan Talisman four times at most before she would enter a period of spiritual power blankness. During this time, her sleep would greatly increase, though it wouldn’t be as bad as when she treated the old master, her time being awake each day would be minimal.

The final time using Spiritual Pointing to form the talisman, Beisitian’s speed in drawing the talisman clearly slowed down. At the last few strokes, she felt it would be hard to continue. She knew she had to push through this hurdle, or the talisman would be wasted, and the extracted spirit would not return.

Sweat dripped down from Beisitian’s smooth forehead. Her head felt heavy as if weighed by a giant stone, with a dull pain. Her face looked very pale, and the baby in her stomach was getting restless, with movements suddenly speeding up.

Her heart sank. This situation was wrong. She had carefully calculated that four times was her limit and also the limit of not harming the baby. Why was there such a big reaction from the baby?

Beisitian was momentarily distracted, and the talisman almost slipped. She quickly slowed her speed to maintain it. Just when she was hesitantly debating whether to give up, she suddenly felt a jolt of spirit, and her heavy head instantly felt light.

Even the concentration that required considerable effort just now was easily achieved now. It felt as if she had had a long, satisfying sleep and woken up refreshed!

Beisitian was amazed. This was very similar to the last situation, except last time, she hadn’t over-exerted her spiritual power as much, so it wasn’t as obvious as now!

She immediately seized the opportunity and quickly completed the last few steps of the talisman drawing. The ink-like blue light suddenly suffused, elevating the Xuan Talisman, which floated on Beisitian’s palm, then spontaneously combusted, turning into a small pinch of talisman powder.

Beisitian looked at the talisman powder in her palm, gently stroking her belly with her right hand, murmuring, ”Babies, was it you just now? Were you helping mommy?”

No one answered Beisitian, the belly resumed its quietness, in stark contrast to the sudden flurry of movements just now. This time, it was too quiet.

Beisitian dared not waste any time and quickly gave the last talismanic water to Luo Xudong. Observing that Luo Xudong’s complexion was vastly different from before, waking up was only a matter of time. She still had other things to do and couldn’t stay here any longer.

Beisitian turned to leave, and as she stepped outside the curtain, the people outside saw her and immediately opened the door to come in. Wei Zhongyuan stepped forward, prepared to offer support. Even one such Xuan Talisman he couldn’t create, yet Beisitian had to make four consecutively, surely she’d be exhausted.

However, Wei Zhongyuan was surprised to see that Beisitian’s spirit seemed better than before. He opened his mouth, astonished—hadn’t she made talismans?

Beisitian had no time to explain anything and said to Du Kai Bo, ”Dean Du, could you arrange for an ultrasound? I want to check the baby’s condition.”

Du Kai Bo nodded, simple enough, and immediately called the obstetrics department to reserve a piece of equipment.

Wu Yuekai saw that she didn’t look too hurried, just a bit worried, knowing things shouldn’t be too bad, so he waited at the ICU door where someone needed to keep watch.

Wei Zhongyuan and Wei Zhongxun, who arrived later, went with her. Unfortunately, being males, they couldn’t go inside to help with anything.

Beisitian gently caressed her now-silent belly, feeling very anxious. Although there had been similar situations before, those belonged to the normal category.

While the ultrasound couldn’t completely reveal the baby’s condition, during the scan, the doctor said the baby was fine, occasionally seen moving little hands and feet, with minimal amplitude.

Upon hearing this, Beisitian was relieved, remembering earlier, she found it especially incredible. The feeling was so clear that after that intense fetal movement, her spiritual power seemed replenished, so easily completing the last step.

She knew that with her current spiritual power, making two more Xuan Talismans like that would be no problem!

Knowing the babies were all fine, Beisitian finally felt relieved, casually returning to the ICU door, only to be told that because Luo Xudong was out of danger, he had been moved to the VIP ward.

Beisitian and the Wei Family Brothers had to head to the ward anew.

Reaching the ward, Wu Yuekai was already gone, with Mrs. Qin and Luo Anguo watching over him. Seeing Beisitian enter, they quickly came over.

”Are you okay, Little Tian’er?” Mrs. Qin asked anxiously.

She had heard that after Beisitian treated Luo Xudong, she went straight to the obstetrics department, giving her a fright. She wanted to go but was stopped by Wu Yuekai.

Now seeing Beisitian unharmed, she first sighed in relief and only truly relaxed after hearing her say the baby was also fine.

The Wei Family Brothers, seeing no further concern, were sent off by Beisitian. They had been busy half the day and needed to return to rest.

”Tell Tian Zhi not to come.” Beisitian said.

Wei Zhongxun nodded. Tian Zhi wasn’t aware yet, and if he knew, he would probably come running over from class.

Dean Du felt a bit emotional; having a Divine Doctor like Beisitian, one would need to consult her before meeting King Yan.

After everyone left, only the three of them remained in the ward. Luo Anguo checked the time and left too, going to pick up Luo Xuping from school. Beijing wasn’t like the village; he wouldn’t rest assured without taking Luo Xuping to and from school daily.

Luo Xudong woke up that night. When he woke up, it was already midnight, and the first sight he saw was Beisitian lying on another bed, and his heart was immediately at ease.
