I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 614: Chapter 613: Surrender

After showing Ning Jiayin, Beisitian returned, and once Ma Tianlai sent her back, he received a call from Peng Baocheng.

Ning Jiayin’s awakening deepened his desire to pledge allegiance, but he was unsure how to proceed, thus he sought advice from Ma Tianlai.

Ma Tianlai and Peng Baocheng had always had a good relationship, and he didn’t mind Peng Baocheng joining in. Moreover, his current status in front of Beisitian was still quite high, and even if Peng Baocheng joined, he couldn’t compare.

No matter how good the relationship is, there are always personal interests.

”Doctor Bei has been trying to raise money, so the best approach right now is to start a company together.” Ma Tianlai suggested, ”Your main business is real estate, so start with real estate. Let Doctor Bei buy shares, maybe not the biggest shareholder but at least the second biggest, then you’ll be just fine with following the lead.”

Peng Baocheng realized this made sense; being the second shareholder was definitely insufficient. He wanted to pledge allegiance, not for Beisitian’s small funds, but for her future influence and vast network.

No matter how much money a businessman earns, without power, it can disappear overnight. Beisitian might not have power either, but many powerful people are willing to support her, and many will strive to please her in the future. With this kind of influence, no one will dare to provoke her.

Moreover, real estate is indeed his main business, and as the capital, Beijing is bound to have real estate booming everywhere; it’s just a matter of time, and he definitely wants to occupy this feng shui haven.

Having decided, Peng Baocheng went to find Beisitian the next day.

”Doctor Bei, I want to develop a piece of land and build a commercial building, but I lack the funds. How about partnering with me? Beijing has favorable policies, and with policy support, the land prices here will surely rise in the future!”

Ma Tianlai initially also saw potential in real estate, knowing it could make big money, but he eventually abandoned real estate and focused his main efforts on herbal cuisine.

It’s not that he’s foolish; it’s precisely because this is where he is most astute. Herbal cuisine might have a promising future, but it can never match the potential of real estate. So why did Ma Tianlai still work hard in this area? It’s because it connects to Beisitian’s main profession.

Beisitian is a Mystic Doctor, which is her greatest asset. No matter how successful real estate is, she neither relies on it for her career nor uses it for her connections.

It can be said that if Ma Tianlai manages Heavenly Blessing well, no one can ever replace his position in Beisitian’s heart, no matter how many people join later.

Therefore, he doesn’t mind Peng Baocheng joining Beisitian’s team early, because no matter how well Peng Bao is doing, he can’t surpass Ma Tianlai.

Human nature is selfish, and even though Ma Tianlai and Peng Baocheng have a good relationship, he would still prioritize himself. Of course, if their relationship were bad, Ma Tianlai wouldn’t even have given him this idea.

Beisitian naturally agreed. After their conversation, she understood Peng Baocheng’s intentions more clearly, and there was no reason for her to refuse. She was at a stage of recruiting talents, so having someone on her side was undoubtedly beneficial.

Beisitian only needed to invest money, without worrying about anything else. Making money in such a carefree manner was truly enjoyable, all because she trusted Peng Baocheng. Although their interactions were insufficient to fully understand him, she had gained some insight.

In the evening, Luo Xudong returned. He was still on vacation, so he came back early, having received news of his promotion to a regiment commander, though the official order hadn’t yet arrived.

Despite the promotion, Luo Xudong wasn’t as joyful as he had imagined.

Only five of the eighteen people returned; his regimental commander position was traded with thirteen lives, which made him feel very heavy.

”This isn’t your fault,” Beisitian said, holding Luo Xudong’s hand.

Luo Xudong gently held her hand, saying, ”I led them out, but couldn’t bring them back.”

Although missions sometimes resulted in casualties, losing so many comrades at once was unprecedented.

”I may not know what the mission was, but since you were given leave before going, I knew it must have been extremely dangerous. The Military Department didn’t mistreat those soldiers, nor did they neglect martyr’s families. We should be proud of these soldiers who sacrificed to protect the country,” Beisitian said.

Luo Xudong knew she was trying to comfort him. He smiled, saying, ”Tomorrow I want to go out and personally deliver the compensation to the families of these thirteen martyrs,” Luo Xudong said.

This would take quite a bit of time, as these thirteen soldiers came from different regions, and just the traveling would take up two-thirds of the total time!

Beisitian nodded, ”Go ahead, don’t worry about home.”

”I have to do this; I’ll return as soon as possible!” Luo Xudong gently kissed Beisitian’s forehead.

The next day, Luo Xudong set off. Beisitian wasn’t far from giving birth, and he intended to return as swiftly as possible to witness the birth of their child.

Beisitian estimated at most she could hold on for another month and a half, not reaching the due date; her belly was already very large.

Her previously fair and skinny face now appeared more rounded. Additionally, her calves and ankles were severely swollen, leaving pits when pressed. She had to buy new shoes as her old ones no longer fit.

Due to her large belly, Beisitian became more fatigued, and she mostly stopped talisman making whenever possible. The Advanced Herbal Cuisine from Heavenly Blessing was limited in quantity; so far, only two business families had signed contracts with them, as the prices were very high, and many feared holding unsold stock.

Therefore, Beisitian’s workload wasn’t heavy, and recently Ma Tianlai was preparing to further reduce the quantity of Advanced Herbal Cuisine to lessen Beisitian’s burden again.

Beisitian occasionally strolled to the old man’s place. Beidewang seemed to have truly returned to normal, with his daily life and diet just like a regular person, not requiring caregivers to feed him.

His recovery happened so suddenly that Beisitian inevitably worried if someone in Beidewang’s condition might experience relapses.

When Beidewang saw Beisitian, he silently stared at her belly, which made Beisitian furrow her brow.

Eventually, Beidewang said nothing, only sighed deeply, shifting his gaze and chatted with Beisitian about everyday matters, learning about what had happened in the years he was absent.

Beisitian recounted to Beidewang the experiences of the original owner as a child, leaving him dumbfounded. Although he had expected a stepmother might treat Beisitian harshly, he hadn’t imagined she would be so excessive!

He thought he had married a good wife to care for Beisitian, but hadn’t realized he had brought home such a venomous woman!
