I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 635: Chapter 634

After Luo Xudong’s car drove away, the cars behind couldn’t catch up because the first one crashed into a stone pillar, blocking the other cars.

The reason he acted so ruthlessly right away wasn’t due to accumulated anger, but because he could tell these people were troublemakers, and the killing intent in their eyes was obvious, leaving him with no hesitation. Taking down one was a victory.

However, he didn’t want Beisitian to witness such a bloody scene, so he glanced at her. As expected, her face was pale, and her brow furrowed slightly.

Beisitian’s face was indeed a bit pale, not from fright, but because of a tightening in her belly — a sign of contraction. It felt like the false contractions from before, but somehow different.

Could it be happening for real this time?

My dear babies, why choose this moment!

Beisitian pressed her lips tightly. Even if it was a contraction, it would take a long time, and her belly hadn’t started hurting yet, nor felt the signs of water breaking, so she didn’t plan to inform Luo Xudong and distract him at this time.

The Santana Jetta was blocked in the alley, but just as Luo Xudong drove out of this alley entrance, a car immediately followed, clearly having been waiting there.

Since someone was waiting at this alley entrance, there must be others stationed at other alley entrances as well.

The opposition was clearly prepared.

For whatever reason, Luo Xudong’s main objective now was to get Beisitian into the Red Painted Courtyard, only then could he deal with these bastards freely.

”Hmm?”

Through the rearview mirror, Luo Xudong saw that three cars were probably following him. The two cars behind had emerged from another alley, but those two suddenly darted into another alley — the same alley. They definitely weren’t going around to flank him.

Luo Xudong quickly deduced that someone had diverted them!

Who could it be?

Not having entered a specific area yet, this situation surely hadn’t been discovered. Who would lead them away?

With still one car following behind, the pressure on Luo Xudong was much reduced compared to before.

The car followed for about five hundred meters before seemingly receiving some information, then quickly turned around and disappeared.

Luo Xudong didn’t stop, driving directly to the back gate of the Red Painted Courtyard, where several armed soldiers emerged and smoothly took Beisitian inside.

Watching Beisitian go in, Luo Xudong turned the car around and drove into the alley.

Until he figured out who these people were, he wouldn’t be at ease.

Li Xuejun, seeing Beisitian’s pale face, thought she was frightened and quickly said, ”Notice Xiao Bei, the old chief isn’t here. When the patrolling soldiers outside noticed the situation, they informed me, knowing your car was approaching. We waited at the gate.”

Li Xuejun didn’t know the specifics of the situation. Those people recognized Luo Xudong’s car and had seen Beisitian before, which is why they informed Li Xuejun immediately; otherwise, they wouldn’t have acted rashly.

Beisitian closed her eyes briefly. Her belly had started to hurt — contractions pulling it. She knew the contractions would get worse, but right now, she couldn’t worry about the pain. She didn’t know if the baby’s head had already turned down. If it had, she would push through despite the pain. If not...

”Comrade Xiao Li, I need to find a way to the maternity hospital!” Beisitian furrowed her brows, sweat dripping from her nose.

Only then did Li Xuejun realize that Beisitian wasn’t pale from fear but from shock and pain.

”Co-comrade Xiao Bei... yo-you’re not about to give birth, are you?” Li Xuejun’s eyes widened.

He had been to the battlefield, held a gun, perhaps hadn’t experienced war chaos but had killed enemies, yet now he was scared.

”I’ll notify the old chief!”

As Li Xuejun turned to leave, Beisitian grabbed him, ”It’s just childbirth, let’s not disturb the old man. Can you find a few people, preferably with guns? There are people outside pursuing me.”

She needed to get to the hospital now!

Li Xuejun was flustered. With Beisitian making such firm requests, he could only follow, but his instincts still pushed him to think of notifying the old chief.

Getting people was a breeze; Li Xuejun was a company commander and could easily find a few soldiers to escort Beisitian. But he worried regular soldiers wouldn’t be a match for those pursuers, so he went ahead and called the old chief.

Upon hearing this, Wu Yuekai immediately assigned his tasks and hurried back with some people.

Being not far away, when Wu Yuekai returned to the Red Painted Courtyard, Luo Xudong was not yet back.

”Where’s the lass?” Wu Yuekai asked Li Xuejun, who had come out to greet him.

Li Xuejun quickly said, ”She’s lying in the room!”

Wu Yuekai then turned towards the room prepared for Beisitian and opened the door. Inside, two medical staff were already attending to Beisitian.

”Lass, come on, let’s go to the hospital!” Wu Yuekai spoke tensely, seeing Beisitian’s face enduring pain.

Beisitian opened her eyes, showing a slight smile, ”Don’t worry, old man, I’m okay.”

Wu Yuekai didn’t reply, just gestured for the two medical staff to follow. On the way, he had already contacted Professor Qiu, who should be ready by now.

...

Some alleys didn’t have gates; calling them alleys was generous. They were typically just passageways for storing debris or garbage — the side or rear walls of homes, barely trodden by two people a day.

At this moment, a slim figure stood in the dark passage, watching coldly at the surrounded foreigners.

”What do you plan to do with them?”

The tall and brawny men surrounding the foreigners all looked towards Bei Jiale, one of them, whose muscles were tight, spoke in a Fujian Taiwan-sounding accent.

Bei Jiale slowly walked over, donning a pair of silvery gloves of unknown material, with a frigid smile on her lips.

Seeing these gloves, the robust men showed fear in their eyes, taking a couple of discreet steps back to let Bei Jiale walk through them.

”Followed me all the way here.” Bei Jiale’s voice lost its usual playful liveliness, becoming cold enough to penetrate hearts.

Those foreign men turned ashen, one of them asked, ”Why are there two of you!”

”Give us a swift end!” another one stammered, tremblingly.

Bei Jiale’s laugh came as a snort from her nose, then she threw her head back to laugh several times, looking at them mockingly.

”Wasn’t it when you brought people to flank me? If I fell into your hands, would you give me a swift end?”

The group could only glare at her with resentment.

”Don’t be smug; we will capture both of you!”

Bei Jiale first looked at the one making the threat, her gaze fiercely cold as she said, ”Let’s start with you then.”

As soon as she finished speaking, two strong men moved forward, pried open that man’s mouth, and with terror and despair in his eyes, Bei Jiale poured the talisman powder from a small paper packet into his mouth.
