I Became a Medical Genius in the 80s

Chapter 611: Chapter 610: Nobleman

Hearing this, Luo Xudong glanced over. Were those people coming for Maynard?

Despite having a suspicion, Luo Xudong still wasn’t reassured. He put one arm around Beisitian, while his other hand was already in a position to draw his gun as quickly as possible.

Luo Xudong had a habit of carrying a gun with him at all times.

His face didn’t show much change, so Beisitian didn’t notice anything amiss. When she heard Maynard’s words, she was a bit puzzled.

”We haven’t finished eating. Is Mr. Maynard not going to eat? This is the food my mother prepared; it’s a medicinal dish that’s good for the body if eaten regularly,” Beisitian said.

Even though foreigners and Chinese people have different dietary habits and cultures, the human body is the same, and the effects are too. So, if they get used to it, foreigners will find medicinal meals beneficial to their health as well.

Maynard showed a regretful expression on his face. ”This food you’re calling a medicinal dish is indeed very tasty. I like the porridge, I also like the meat dumplings... Can I take these with me?”

Beisitian smiled, ”Mr. Maynard, if you’d like to eat, you’re welcome to visit my home anytime. These things are simple foods, only the porridge is a medicinal dish.”

Maynard nodded, ”I hope there will be an opportunity.”

Luo Xudong’s eyelids drooped slightly, his eyes shifted slightly to the side, and soon there was a rustling noise around them.

Beisitian was initially startled, but when her hand was squeezed by Luo Xudong, she knew that Luo Xudong had already noticed the situation. She felt reassured and looked over.

Out of the surrounding bushes and grass appeared seven or eight foreign men in suits with sunglasses, some of whom were even holding guns!

”Mr. Morris...”

The leader of the foreigners was taken aback by the scene before him, then he gave a wry smile and said to Maynard in English, ”We thought something had happened to you and tracked you here, only to find you on a picnic!”

And they were scared half to death!

Maynard Morris is a direct member of the British Royal Family. If anything had happened to him, they couldn’t bear the responsibility, and if something really happened in China, it might even affect the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

”Would you like to sit down and eat a bit?” Maynard asked with a smile, although he knew these people wouldn’t sit down and dine with him.

”No, Mr. Morris, could you come back with us now? In foreign territory, we must remain vigilant.”

Maynard shrugged, stood up, and held the small serving of porridge in his hand as he said to Beisitian and Luo Xudong, ”Thank you for the food, I like medicinal dishes.”

Maynard didn’t have a thorough understanding of ’medicinal dishes’. To him, the term ’medicinal dishes’ was just like ’dumplings’, representing a specific type of food.

In fact, there’s nothing wrong with understanding it that way; it’s just that he didn’t know enough yet.

And so, Maynard left with these people. Once they left, the scene immediately returned to tranquility, with only the occasional sound of birds chirping around.

”Who exactly is Maynard?” Beisitian couldn’t help asking.

Luo Xudong shook his head, initially thinking he encountered an ordinary foreign old man, but didn’t expect to see him being taken away by so many bodyguards. These bodyguards were very skilled, not inferior to some international mercenaries, so Maynard’s identity must be extraordinary.

Because of this incident, their mood to continue eating was disrupted. They ate a little hastily, then got into their car and drove back down.

Once back, Luo Xudong began investigating Maynard’s identity and unexpectedly found out that this foreign old man was actually a British Royal Family member visiting China.

Ma Tianlai was attending a sponsorship fair to welcome the British Royal Family members, and this event was specifically to host this Maynard gentleman.

Because Maynard was planning to build twenty-two hope schools in China and donate a large sum of money, a charity fund was specially established for this purpose.

Had Beisitian not met Maynard, she might have only mildly reflected that someone had come to China to do charity.

Now that she’d met Maynard and learned some of his past, she realized that his biggest motive was to fulfill his wife’s wish.

He’s a man with deep emotions and a kind heart.

”His wife isn’t dead, but gravely ill. What exact illness isn’t known, but it’s said that she doesn’t have much time left,” Luo Xudong said.

Investigating these things took him half a day, but he managed to get to the bottom of Maynard’s story.

He wasn’t interested in Maynard’s identity, he was just a bit displeased about being surrounded halfway up the mountain. He was alone at the time, and the other side had eight or nine people. On a regular day, even if those people are skilled, he could still fight, but with Beisitian there, he had many concerns.

Although such unexpected incidents don’t happen often, just one outing like that made them encounter such a situation. Luo Xudong realized he had to be more cautious. The next time he ventures out, he should bring some people for security, at least not allowing others to approach within 500 meters unnoticed.

Beisitian felt a bit regretful, fearing she might never meet Mr. Maynard again; he was a talkative and somewhat charming foreigner.

On the other side, news came from Ma Tianlai that Heavenly Blessing failed to become a sponsor.

Even though Heavenly Blessing showcased considerable backing, the company had not even been established for a year yet. Emerging companies like this rarely become sponsors because the company itself isn’t on a stable operational track.

Ma Tianlai was particularly regretful, as this was a tremendous opportunity.

”Alas, our company’s been around too short a time. Otherwise, with our strength, we’d have no problem becoming a sponsor!”

He was especially hopeful for success, as riding this wave could elevate Heavenly Blessing’s reputation to a higher level.

After hearing this, Beisitian thought for a moment and said, ”I have an idea; whether it’s useful or not, I don’t know.”

Ma Tianlai gave a wry smile; at this point, any method seemed useless.

”Isn’t this reception for the foreign guests? Let the foreign guests know that Heavenly Blessing specializes in medicinal dishes; maybe there’s a chance to turn things around.”

Although the odds were slim, after all, Ma Tianlai had few chances to pass the message along.

Ma Tianlai was amused and frustrated, ”Doctor Bei, medicinal dishes are quite well-known domestically, but foreigners don’t even know what they are.”

”Since it’s already like this, why not give it a try,” Beisitian smiled.

She saw Maynard take the medicinal porridge with him, indicating that he honestly liked it. If it reaches his ears, who knows, it might succeed.

Ma Tianlai always trusted Beisitian. Although the method sounded somewhat unreliable, Beisitian never gave unreliable suggestions; if she spoke, there must be a reason.

”Alright, then I’ll give it a try.”
